They are discontinuing Plague INC?? Lol. I was making a jackass post about a video game prediction of the outcome. Staying at a Holiday Inn there Doctor Internet?
Social media is a great because it means that we can hear from all the epidemiologists and public health experts who really know what they are talking about, like the ones on this thread. Who else would proclaim so confidently?
I would say 6 or 7 out of 10. 20 EPL/CL games, 6 goals and 4 assists; those are above average stats. He did well for his fist year in a new/bigger league. For a $70M man, I expected a little more; but he was injured half of the time so can't put out bigger numbers if you're not on the field more. I think staying healthy might be his biggest challenge going forward.
I say season and a half. The season prior, I think we all agreed he exhausted himself between club and NAT duties. He played like what, 4500-5000 minutes in during the '17-'18 season? His current long lay off is quite concerning. If anything, he's a guy that could really benefit from this long break.

Im happy with Pulisic season I think he came in and showed that he can handle the EPL level. You expect Pulisic to be able to build off of that. The one thing we all want to see is him play more. If he can stay healthy he has the skill to do that.
Very disappointing overall, but most of that is due directly to injuries. Production and play weren't bad, all things considered, in the minutes he did get. The G/A numbers are inflated a bit, since what he really did was generally do a good job overall, and then have a match in which he had a hat trick. That skews things, when just looking at those big numbers. But yeah... would/could have had a damn good year if not for injuries IMO. The blueprint was there starting in the Supercup final against Liverpool, and delivered on in the hat trick match. Just not enough time to fully express his skills this season. Maybe they do resume the postponed matches and he puts a little run together?
Competition is going to heat up quite a bit next season with Ziyech taking one of the two wing positions. And rumors is Chelsea might be after Countinho (at a highly discounted fee).
Unless they somehow restart this season and he goes on a run of good health and form, I'll have to give him an incomplete due to injuries, which is sadly like too much of his career. He started off fairly solid, then his form dipped, he got set aside. Then, he got back into the team and had a really good run where he showed what the fuss was about and started to look like maybe he'd start really producing But then, another injury, followed by a handful of up and downs, followed by another injury. Injuries aren't often a player's fault, but he simply didn't play enough or establish himself over a long enough run to consider the season a true success, more like kicking the can down the road again. He needs to play closer to his peak for a significant portion of a season or I will see his potential as unfulfilled. I think he'll be able to do it. But so far, a lot of stops and starts have kept him from really having a strong season and I don't think you can really just assume he would have just continued his hot form if he hadn't been injured. He has to prove that, and thus far in his young carer he is yet to string together consistency over time. He needs a full or mostly full season of health before we can really say what kind of player he is longer term. If he ends up being a fragile part-time player over the course of his career, I'll be disappointed and I'm sure he would be as well. It's a shame it sounds like he's finally feeling healthy when there are no games to play.
I wonder how much sense this kind of purchase makes... I don't think there's any real indication Coutinho would agree to join Chelsea on one hand, much less for a paycut (which I assume they would not have him on his Barca money...), much less for what Barca would want to sell him for? On top of that it you could argue it would also hamper the development of 2 or maybe 3 of their young stars, who play for them in that attacking CM role or at LW. So, that would be a very surprising signing, for me.
Solid post. About the way I see it. Dude played well once he got his feet wet... looked like he could be an elite player... alas, injury woes and covid curtailed the season. Two years in a row with serious injury concerns puts his future in doubt IMO. Wish he could borrow some health from Mount. That guy knows how to stay on the pitch and I think he became a better player as the season progressed despite the slow-down in goals.
I think he showed enough to know that he can play at this level and he can play a part. how big the part is, is still to be determined. So I think as long as it left them thinking he has a role, I call it a win, maybe not a convincing win, but W's often get you another chance.
I think this is the big problem with all the injuries. Young players that play improve. Young players that don't play don't improve. Pulisic can't take the next steps and show consistency and hit that top level he has more often without time on the field. He's far enough along that his improvements will come with game time and the more time he spends out injured, the less chance he has to keep improving. He's already a good player and belongs in the league for sure. But, I think most believe he has the ability to be a top player at a top club. If his next couple seasons go like his last couple, we'll be looking at a guy hitting his mid 20s and being almost exactly what he was at 19 because he rarely gets to play for any length of time. That's really far less than ideal no matter how good you are at 19. And I do think Pulisic is very good. Most professional players are never good enough to get the minutes Pulisic has on big teams like Dortmund and Chelsea no matter how much they play. He just needs to get healthy enough to get even better.

None of Chelsea's current wide players are remotely close to Pulisic in ability so that's a welcome change.
Well he's only 18 right? I think 18 year old Puli was better by quite a bit, but perhaps not THAT far ahead. CHO is quite talented.
I think it was successful in that he showed he could handle and thrive with the physicality of the Premier League, which was certainly my biggest concern for him. His stats were beefed up by the hat trick game, but he also had some really effective games where he didn't make it on the scoresheet. I think it evens out in the end.
