On my list of matches to watch again, I'd add some other quarterfinals: the 1999 US v Germany quarterfinal and the 2011 US v Brazil quarterfinal.
When I posted about this, I was actually thinking of the 2017 ToN US v Brazil game, so I'm a bit disappointed now after watching, tbh. Still a good game, but not as exciting as the 2017 version.
I was kinda hoping for the US-Brazil 2011 match, but maybe the rights to that coverage are too complicated for re-broadcast?
so is the 1999 USA-Brasil semifinal . I had forgotten that the semis were doubleheaders with mls games.
2017 version is easily in my Top 10 USWNT Matches: 3 Goals in 9 minutes late in the Match vs. the Diving Divas Loudest 20Kish crowd ever in SoCal
Drop everything that you're doing, forget your troubles because FIFA has graced us with updated Rankings as of 3/27/2020. And in a surprise to no one, a certain Women's National Soccer Team is at the absolute apex, the summit, the top, the pinnacle, the peak - - - The Queens of the Galaxy!!!
The IOC is quite possibly more stingy with letting people reuse their footage than FIFA. But thanks to Jen Cooper of the Mixxed Zone podcast, you can rewatch (or watch for the first time!) the 1996 gold medal game. Go to her website: https://keepernotes.com/woso-nerd-links/ and click on the "Olympic" link under "WoSo Nostalgia YouTube channel" (do not go to the YouTube channel as the video is not there; the "Olympic" link takes you to a Dropbox folder with the video, but I don't want to link it directly here to keep it from being taken down). Anyway, I've been following the USWNT since the 96 Olympics, and this is the first match I can remember watching (although we didn't get to watch the full game!), so lots of nostalgia for me.
Sauerbrunn never disappoints in these types of situations. She gives some interesting info, but also some great humor. A few examples: In 2015, both JJ and I went through goalkeeper "training" in case something terrible were to happen during a game. I think I would still pick either one of us. https://t.co/zSkYlkl1Xr— FOX Soccer (@FOXSoccer) March 29, 2020 I give Pinoe the most crap. Abby Wambach was the absolute worst. And, in this game, Sam had a pretty poor dive. https://t.co/NHwNUqtqsG— FOX Soccer (@FOXSoccer) March 29, 2020 It's just sounds. Not real words. When it's coherent it's usually about not giving her more to do. SO, I gave her the England penalty, and now she's gone quiet. https://t.co/6y7y1AEPhY— FOX Soccer (@FOXSoccer) March 29, 2020

And that's the game. (It'll stay up on FIFA's YouTube channel though for at least some time. The others that they've shown are all still up.) SPOILER ALERT: We won! Time to go get a workout in before this evening's soccer marathon.
This game just kicked off on ESPN2. For a blast from the past, this interview was shot before the game:
