We have nothing like the big game history against New England the way we do Columbus, but there are some really fun ones. The 6-0 shellacking (all in the second half!) in 2009, the second stringers winning on the road in 2010 or 11, and a few others.
This game is up there in my favorite games to have attended. The video does no justice to how ridiculous Clint's goal was Here are the game highlights from another angle
I always thought Borchers made a hell of a play to get out of the way of Mathis. Speaking of Borchers and the Revs, here's the game from July 4 2011 when he was red carded on a truly gorgeous tackle in minute three of a game that finally ended 3-3. We sure could have used VAR that day.
I showed up at 1:30 if this game. And I was like "man, what a nice day, we're gonna have fun" and then yeah. The infamous stink eye from Kreis to Nichol or the 4th official (or both?) was awesome
Had a great view of this from section 31 in the north end. I remember thinking "this is a goal" and then being amazed by supposedly slow Borchers making that huge recovery and wonder tackle. The subsequent PK and red double wammy of injustice was gut punching. But that was also the good old days when the riot was still a fortress and we all believed a result was possible. Much better than the draws we haphazardly conjure up at home nowadays.
We're 10-6-6 (W-D-L) against the Revs with some crazy games in our history. We had a stretch from 2010 - 2014 where we didn't lose to them (and only drew once in the above bizarre 3-3 game) But then got throttled 4-0 twice in the next three years (both times out there). Goals are 38 for RSL to 30 for NER all time. 8/10/05: L 1-4 9/3/05: L 0-1 6/24/06: D 0-0 7/14/06: W 3-1 6/2/07: D 0-0 7/28/07: L 1-2 6/21/08: W 2-1 10/4/08: D 2-2 4/25/09: W 6-0 8/23/09 L 1-3 7/2/10: W 5-0 10/2/10: W 2-1 4/9/11 W 2-0 7/4/11: D 3-3 5/5/12: W 2-1 5/8/13: W 2-1 7/4/14: W 2-1 4/25/15 L 0-4 7/16/16: D 0-0 5/13/17: L 0-4 10/18/18: W 4-1 9/21/19: D 0-0
This may have been when I felt the very best about our team: very early in 2011, in the midst of the CCL run, when we went on the road to New England and played almost no starters and came away a 2-0 winner.
Here's a 2-2 game from 2008 that has one of the best goals in team history (IMHO), courtesy of Andy Williams:
I remember being so livid that we drew this game Looking back, both RSL goals were really good and NE deserved goals well before Andy hit the banger. In the lead up to the equalizer, that is a pretty blatant handball. In today's VAR world, that gets called back, right? The red by Andy at the end - I was really done with the dude right then - but that was in the midst of his wife's cancer battle, no?
That team was so much fun to watch. The way Javi would run right into the middle of the other team's back line and create something; watching the expressions on the other teams' faces when their forwards would get Olave'd; Olave and Borchers together on the back line; the strength we had (usually) in the midfield, etc., etc. Those were good days, and well worth another look. Thanks Ismitje!
And RSL won, again! 3-2 over New England. They might be much better at this e-sports thing than the actual game.
Does anyone here know, is it true that Romney and Lee are in self-isolation due to close contact with Rand Paul. They haven’t been voting on the Economic Stimulus and there’s a rumor floating around DC.
Not a rumor. Both in self-isolation along with a bunch of others. https://www.cnn.com/2020/03/09/politics/coronavirus-lawmakers-quarantine-isolation/index.html
same I wouldn't think the data would be sufficient enough (yet) to make any claim like that. Here is what I found on CDC about potential false negative/positive results. Nothing about a 30% rate. The only mention of something like that is from sites like reddit and the like.

That's probably not true. This test, developed by a local company, lists their sensitivity and specificity at 100.00% (FNR is 1 - sensitivity), but I think that's following a specific protocol to minimize false negatives. In practice, they probably don't have zero, but it's really close. The faulty tests that Chinese company sold to hospitals in Spain and the Czech Republic may have had a 90% FNR.
This was from a PhD Virologist friend who is a researcher at one of the giant Pharmaceutical companies. It was a direct message to me. I did not ask him to cite the paper for me. “RT-PCR is very sensitive. If there is a couple PFU of virus on the swab, it probably picks it up. But if early in infection and the swab misses an area of infected cells, could definitely show negative. 30-40% false negatives is what I’ve seen in the data. I saw the paper yesterday but can’t find it right now.” I have no reason not to believe him and wouldn’t have used his numbers if I had any doubt about their authenticity.
