Here is something I did not know, we had both Harkes and Tony Meola on trial at the same time! Apparently Meola went to Brighton for a season after his trial with us then had a short stint at Watford. Harkes has a son, Ian Harkes, who is plying his trade up in Scottish Div One for Dundee Utd. Following his signing, he revealed that his Dundee-born grandfather had been a supporter of the club growing up. His mom, Cindi Harkes also played for our ladies team for a bit.
