When I was setting my DVR to record I saw that Comcast had it airing on two channels, and that one was set to start at 5:00, and the other at 5:30, which I thought was kind of strange. I set both to record, but, haven't checked to see if the 5:00 recording has the entire game. Maybe you set yours for the one that was starting at 5:30?
ESPN+ will have the whole game for you. That is, if you get ESPN+. We ditched Comcast a while back, and then moved over to Roku later. In any case, ESPN+ has everything "on demand." I'll have to watch later tonight, when I get home. We're in Astoria for the weekend. I am really disappointed in our bad start to the season, but I expected to be. I'm much more disappointed that we didn't do squat in the off-season. It's not rocket science, it's fútbol! Go Quakes!! Fisher OUT!! - Mark
We didn't even try for this guy: https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2020...ing-kansas-city-fans-home-debut?autoplay=true
We've been exposed. The myth of "Genius Pelado" has been repeated so often even he believes it. There is nothing magical about his training - there are serious scientists devoted to the science of athletic performance, and I really doubt that anything happening in Cancun is going to turn the sports medicine field upside down. His supposedly ingenious defensive scheme worked for about a half-dozen games last year, but was then easily analyzed and picked apart by the rest of the league. Essentially, what we're left with is a very highly-paid, high-profile coach with a bunch of bargain-basement, cutout bin el-cheapo players, and try as he might, you ain't gonna make a silk purse out of the sow's ear we've been given by our cheapskate ownership.... btw I was on the road from SAC to home when the game was on. Turned it on the radio to find out it was already 1-1, and turned it off at the half when it was 4-1. Not even interested in watching the rebroadcast.
Quakes Epicenter showed the postgame Almeyda press conference last night for its Patreon supporters. Jamon Moore asked some direct questions about Flo and Judson, which Almeyda answered rather pointedly. He implied that with the left-footed Alanis in the left back position now, the right-footed Flo isn't on the field because he is behind Kashia in the pecking order for the right center back. (In other words that Flo's good performances in the past came when playing on the left and not the right). He also said he was giving Yueill the position for now that Judson usually plays because of Yueill's qualities and to give Jackson a chance to progress. However, he also made the point that individual errors were made and that he himself is not perfect in all judgements and implied that he might make some positional changes. The frustration with the game was evident, so it is hard to figure out what the coach will do next. The press conference is worth viewing.
I think it is all thrown off by the insertion of Rios up front instead of Danny. That causes a domino effect of pushing other players from their optimal positions into other spots. Last season, after the first four games, Judson's qualities made a real difference for the team. When Judson wasn't available for selection, the results showed what a difference he made. Rios in = Danny to left = to keep Vako and and Magnus and Yueill in = Judson out. If I understand Almeyda's postgame comments correctly, it was Alanis who bumped Flo from the starting lineup.
Hey, you misunderstand. I like Vako. I actually missed his little tricks in this game. I apologize that I didn’t notice that he was double-teamed so much and that was the reason he only seemed to get off the one good shot that scored. I was just looking at his body language etc which i took as being checked out or unenthusiastic. But is this the last year of his contract? That could be meaningful...
My west coast trip got "corona'd" which meant I missed the game. I'm kind of glad, although I ended up eating my ticket cost. Instead, I went to Audi Field to watch DC United come from behind against the spice boys. They have a nice game day atmosphere, and there's a stand that makes fresh pupusas while you wait! OMG that was amazing. I'll make the trek to Avaya eventually, assuming my business travel resumes some time this year.
It still is a long season but reinforcements should have been made starting as of December. Every team on earth buys or replaces 3-5 players from one season to the next. I’m not discounting the signing of Alanís but one different or newer player on a roster is clearly not enough. We need new blood already.
CSNBA on ATT TV Now (which I love BTW) had the game starting at 530, but when I tuned in it was (also) in the 22nd minute and was 1-1. I was like "what the %$#!?"
I have never tried to see Quakes games as replays on ESPN+. The live games are blacked out here in Reno.
Everyone seems to conveniently forget that SKC had his "discovery" rights, and therefore sign him or "trade" his rights to another team.
Bummer. Maybe you can watch them a day or two or three later? I live near Portlandia, OR, so I'm way out of market. I get all of the Quakes games on ESPN+, excepting those that are broadcast on Telemundo. I can get the games on Fox too. Good luck @2in10! We appreciate you insights on all things Reno!! Go Quakes!! Go Reno!! Fisher OUT!! - Mark
We didn't even try, we didn't make an offer to SKC, didn't propose any trades of any kind, we just did nothing. No cash, no TAM, nothing. We just shrugged our shoulders with our thumbs up our asses and did nothing!
Maybe try a 3-4-3? Would get both Flo and Judson on the field. Tommy and Nick would play as wingbacks. Vako------------Rios/Hoesen---------Espinoza Lima------Yueill---------Judson---------Tommy -------Alanis---------Kashia-------------Flo
It might be convenient to forget SKC had his discovery rights but it’s also convenient to think that’s the reason we didn’t sign him. 1. We don’t know when SKC “discovered” him - it could have just been a formality before making their offer for all we know. 2. Almeyda has a much closer relationship to Pulido than anyone at SKC. If we were serious about making a real offer for him Pulido could have just made his preference to play for Almeyda known to MLS. I don’t think MLS would want him to walk away from the league just because of discovery rights. The purpose of discovery rights is to prevent bidding wars between MLS clubs. Not for clubs to prevent players from joining the league.
Assume that we could not have gotten him because the Sporks had “dibs” on him. We should have been scouring Central and South America for young strikers, 20 to 23. Surely, we could have found a decent player for less than extreme amounts of money. We’d have to be able to fit such a player under the cap, of course. I’d be willing to ditch a couple of players on our roster to get a good young striker. We did get a good new CB, but then we stupidly benched our best CB, so that’s pretty much a wash. We needed either a new left back, or for Lima or Lopez to step up and act like an MLS quality starting left back. Jury still out there. We needed either a new CAM, or for Rios to step up and play that spot. Or we could play TT in that spot, because ... that’s what he does. We didn’t do nearly enough this off-season. Not nearly enough, and now we are reaping the benefits of being stupid shits! Assume that we could not have gotten Pulido, there are other strikers we could have chased. Go Quakes!! Stupid, pathetic, losing team!! Fisher OUT!! - Mark
I also saw the same thing on Uverse but didn’t think what it meant, and I picked the wrong one to record (the 5:30 episode). So you weren’t alone!
Didn't see this coming after game 1. Obviously something has to happen with our set piece marking. Kashia looked like exhausted minute 85' Kashia from last week, but this time all game.
I think the Amarillo header that made it 3:1 showed just how discombobulated the team is. First, the guy delivering the cross could’ve set up a picnic spread and enjoyed a nice glass of wine before JY and Eriksen decided that they should maybe run over and try to prevent the cross. Then you have Kashia ball watching so badly that Amarillo at the moment the ball struck his head was a good 5 yards away from him...inexcusable! There is just a giant hole in the middle of our lineup due to Eriksen and JY. Eriksen is just to slow and JY is out of position as he cannot provide defensive cover to the back line especially when both of our CBs lack pace. This is where Judson provides the difference as he is relentless in his defensive assignments but lacks in offensive areas. Therefore the only solution I see is to bench a Eriksen and move JY to his spot and insert Judson to DM.
The other teams have figured out how to beat us on corners. They bunch guys up, and then move one of them around in a circle, such that his marker is blocked by one of his own players and only partly by one of the enemy players. There are variations on this, but they try to run our guys into each other. It’s like a gridball crossing pattern. Their guys know where they are going, our guys don’t. Other teams are trying to use our man-marking system against us. We’re going to have to adjust what we’re doing, or we’re going to get ripped all season long. Go Quakes!! Fisher OUT!! - Mark
