The Super Bowl is over and it is about to get real in the NBA season so time to open a new thread... First let us celebrate that my boys Kristaps Porzingis and Tim Hardaway Jr. who combined for 63 points in a win against the Indiana Pacers obviously led to the firing of Knicks President of Basketball Operations Steve Mills. He traded both of them to the Mavs to create cap space for Durant and Kyrie, expiring contracts and two picks that will be probably be very late 1st rounders. We are expecting the video tribute from Knicks fans soon.
Poor Knicks... just feel bad for them, or their fans rather, it's practically been 20 straight goddamn years... playoffs once in all that time? That owner is a complete nightmare.
The Detroit Pistons just traded Andre Drummond for pocket change. Future second-round pick to the Pistons -- lesser of Golden State or Cleveland's 2023 pick, source tells ESPN. Knight and Henson too.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) February 6, 2020
J.R. Smith part 2. The Lakers are expected to give free agent guard JR Smith a post-trade deadline audition (perhaps as soon as next week) and remain favorites to sign Darren Collison if Collison elects to make a comeback to the NBA -- in addition to potential pickups on the buyout market— Marc Stein (@TheSteinLine) February 6, 2020
What’s the buyout market realistically look like? Title still going through Clips and Bucks as far as I can tell, esp with Clips recent trade.
What a move. How'd he make this?! 🤯@delonwright | #MFFL 📺: https://t.co/Flawn2MSPx pic.twitter.com/mIehh9Lbny— Dallas Mavericks (@dallasmavs) February 8, 2020
@EruditeHobo Buyout Market is thin now that Iggy is in Miami. I heard Evan Turner might be bought out by the T-Wolves and that's pretty much it. Maybe there'll be more movement later on. Oh and there's this one from Woj just now: Forward Marvin Williams is finalizing a contract buyout with the Charlotte Hornets, league sources tell ESPN. Williams, 33, will become a free agent target for contending teams.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) February 8, 2020
Milwaukee vs the Clippers should be a great series. Milwaukee is waiving Dragan Bender, clearing the way to sign F Marvin Williams as soon as Monday, league sources tell ESPN. Williams buyout is complete with Charlotte and will be waived as soon today.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) February 8, 2020
Man, ******** D. Wade for rigging the dunk contest result. He did my boy Aaron Gordon dirty. What a disgrace. Wade was not only a dirty player, he is also a dirty person. All just to get his former Heat team-mate the undeserved win. And shame on Scottie Pippen for trying to rig the voting to make it go to the final decision rather than voting fairly. You opened the door for Wade to rig the winner.
Cavs fired their college coach with the five year deal after 2/3 of the 1st season and are on track for the worst record in the East. Yikes. Story filed to ESPN: After a brief and tumultuous tenure, John Beilein is leaving as Cleveland's coach. Associate HC JB Bickerstaff will be elevated to head coach. Beilein's expected to say goodbye to staff and players on Wednesday upon team's return from All-Star Break.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) February 19, 2020
Rest of the NBA season might get played without fans. New story filed to ESPN: The NBA’s Board of Governors shared a consensus on Wednesday to continue the season playing games without fans in arenas amid the coronavirus crisis, and Commissioner Adam Silver is expected to move in that direction with a decision on Thursday.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) March 11, 2020
Of course it was Dolan. Several teams were willing to put the games on hiatus, but the rest wanted to move toward eliminating fans from arenas to continue playing games, sources tell ESPN. One team wanted to keep status quo until a governmental/public mandate dictated change: The New York Knicks.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) March 12, 2020
NBA season suspended: The NBA has suspended the season.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) March 12, 2020
Damn, poor KAT. Hope his mom gets better... An emotional Karl-Anthony Towns revealing that his mother, diagnosed with the coronavirus, is in a coma and connected to a ventilator. He’s clearly trying to further alert the public to the seriousness of the pandemic. https://t.co/NOP2b35J8H— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) March 25, 2020

Karl-Anthony Towns' mother, Jacqueline Towns, has passed away due to coronavirus, the Timberwolves say.— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) April 13, 2020
