PLAYER OF THE YEAR Sherida Spitse, Vålerenga Synne Jensen, Røa Kennya Cordner, Sandviken COACH OF THE YEAR Hege Riise, LSK Kvinner Monica Knudsen, Vålerenga Steinar Lein, Trondheims-Ørn YOUNG PLAYER OF THE YEAR Julie Blakstad, Fart Rikke Nygard, Arna Bjørnar Runa Lillegård, Lyn TOP SCORER OF THE YEAR Kenny Cordner, Sandviken HONORARY AWARD Ingrid Hjelmseth SUPPORTERS OF THE YEAR Klanen (The Clan) - Vålerenga supporters Caro Hansen was very critical to Vålerenga winning the supporters award on her twitter account because they were "fat shaming" LSK player Therese Åsland in the cup final. Caro tweeted: "We shouldn't celebrate bullies and organizations who cater for bad attitude and hate in society". Caro is a former Lyn player and Vålerenga are the arch rivals in Oslo, which adds extra bite to her comments. She also said once she wouldn't be caught dead in a Vålerenga shirt.
Nominated for the Gold Ball 2019 Male practitioners Erling Braut Haaland - Red Bull Salzburg Martin Ødegaard - Real Sociedad Joshua King - Bournemouth Sander Berge - Genk Female athletes Maren Mjelde - Chelsea Ada Stolsmo Hegerberg - Lyon Caroline Graham Hansen - Barcelona Guro Reiten - Chelsea From NFF website
Vålerenga have appointed a Dane, Jack Majgaard Jensen, as new coach on a two-year deal to succeed Monica Knudsen. His greatest achievement is winning Damallsvenskan with Rosengård a few years ago. Interesting signing.

Norway's NT goalkeeper Cecilie Fiskerstrand has signed for relegation threatened FA WSL club Brighton on an 18-month deal. I honestly think there are better clubs out there who could need her services. On the other hand, she will get a lot to do playing for a struggling team, which could open up opportunities later on.
You think she would have more playing time with top tier clubs instead of a potential relegated team? Unless there are no spots for top tier.
I think she should have stayed at LSK Kvinner another year and build up more experience until a better club showed interest, but I don't know the personal details in her contract. It could be a lucrative offer difficult to turn down.
Caro Hansen was voted Norway's Player of the Year last night. Based on reactions on social media, Ada's fanbase wasn't very pleased with that.
Well Ada didn’t played for Norway the last few years they are going to have to accept it. And she will never play for Norway again.
More silly season. It seems Sam Kerr's girlfriend has signed for Klepp. The Norwegian club closest to London geographically. Not much to report from Norway lately apart from the occasional new signing on the transfer market. Some players have moved abroad like Ingrid Moe Wold to Madrid and Cecilie Fiskerstrand to Brighton, taking the tally of foreign based Norwegians to a record 29 (Eng 11, Swe 8, Fra 2, Esp 2, Ita 2, Ger 2, Den 1, Sui 1). Norwegian clubs have just started pre-season training and there will be a bunch of friendly matches later this winter to follow. We'll get back to that. How good it is to see Guro Reiten flourish at Chelsea. She has grown into a key player now. Her last couple of games have been immense. Two assists and a headed(!) goal by her this weekend in the big game against Arsenal. I can't ever remember a header from her in Toppserien. Caro Hansen has missed the last few matches at Barcelona with a foot injury. Hope she'll be back soon. Bauser: I see in your summary that Cecilie Pedersen is retiring - sad. What she might have accomplished had she played the past several years for the Norwegian national team we will never know. If her retirement is based on injury, she may heal sufficiently in the future to make a comeback even if brief. She was something to watch in her earlier years especially for the national team - ripping through defenses.
Yes, she never recovered from the injury problems she has carried over the last couple of years. That's why she stops now. In her prime, she would have been a valuable asset to the national team, especially now without Ada. Too bad Pedersen didn't want to be part of the Norway team. The true reason for it never surfaced, I think.
It's already mentioned in the French thread, but Ada Hegerberg is out for a year with an ACL injury. It happened accidently during practice without anyone touching her.

I noticed Caro missing from the Barça lineups since the start of the year, anybody know how serious her injury is?/ will she be back for the Algarve Cup?. both Reiten & Mjelde currently playing really well for Chelsea, and to be honest, which look like the best pro club in the world right now
Caro should be returning very soon. There was something about a foot injury, but details around the injury hasn't been mentioned anywhere I've seen. She was walking around the streets of Barcelona seemingly normal during an interview made by NRK on Sunday night though. Barcelona probably don't want to risk anything with her at this stage of the season with the big games coming up later.
Ingrid Engen writes about her first six months at Wolfsburg I've run it through Google translate and it comes out well. "The training session was so hard, I had to lie down on the living room floor while my mom had to feed me".

Yes, Martin Sjögren has selected his squad today for Algarve Cup as already posted. Norway play Denmark (March 4) in the first match. For consistency, I'll just post my normal set-up anyway. She can play both left and right. We've had a problem on those positions, so it will be interesting to see some new faces against top level opposition. Exciting to see Synne Jensen back in the squad after some time in the cold.
Engen is a defensive midfielder. Mjelde and Thorisdottir were the two centrebacks for Norway in the WWC with Engen just in front of them. Engen seems to have the same role for Wolfsburg in the games I've seen.
Engen has played in defence a couple of matches in her life, all after the WC. She got deployed there early in her Wolfsburg career, and stepped in for the injured Thorisdottir against Northern Ireland. Before that she's always been a midfielder.
