    Signed for how much time?
It's going to be interesting anyway.

He signed for one year, but there is a clause in the contract stating that if either Honda or the club is not satisfied after the Olympics, the contract could be terminated.

Interesting that his salary will be R$150k per month, which is about 32k euros. It was reported that he was earning 200k euros at Vitesse and 300k dollars at Pachuca.

Honda got a crazy reception when he landed in Rio de Janeiro.

    Wow!

I think his playing style suits the Brazilian league. In Brazil, the game is less intense and played at a slower pace compared to European football. I'm not saying it means EU football > Brazilian football.

Honda's debut confirmed for next Tuesday (03/10) in the Copa do Brasil 3rd round first leg at home against Paraná Clube (2nd division).

By the way, Yaya Toure is on the verge of signing for Botafogo as well.

Promising debut today. Played 61 minutes in a 1-1 draw against Bangu and was arguably the best Botafogo player. Scored from a PK, provided two key passes and completed 32 out of 33 passes. Too bad the game was under closed doors and all matches are suspended in Brazil from now on.

It seems he is having a terrible league debut.

I saw few parts of the game and he was rarely involved. Meanwhile, Botafogo's fans complaining that he is slow, cannot defend as defensive midfielder, and he is not a defensive midfielder to begin with.

Agreed, he was extremely slow physically and also when manipulating/distributing the ball, and rarely did he play a pass directed forward. I thought the level of play overall was rather dismal and lacking in intensity and quality. The whole game felt so languid. Maybe the competition will pick up a bit, but there wasn't much for anyone to take home from this match.

It looks like Honda is trying to convince Kagawa to join him at Botafogo.

Tsubasa in the 80s dreamed to play football in Brazil, now it's retired japanese players destination.

A decent outing for him today, got forward well and set up some teammates' shots and nearly scored from distance "o chute espetacular do japonês", only to be thwarted by the keeper in Botafogo's 0-0 draw with Goiás.

He need to come back to Italy: the best league for the old men as him.

And he will face his former team, maybe change his jersey with Ibra.

Come back man, there are a lot of horrible team thag will have a great improvement with you even if you jumped the shark some time ago.

A newly promoted team for the season where he can get decent playing time would be suitable imo.

Lol our golden generation are really something when they're all in their mid to late 30s and still probably on ability almost our best players.

Okazaki and Inui are performing decently well now, Yoshida slightly below these 2 but still pretty ok as of now.

Okazaki, Inui, Yoshida, Honda, Hasebe, Kawashima all still absolute beasts.
Pure class to be that good at the ages they are.
