Congrats to Bedoya for making a top 5 league, team of the decade, at RW! Proud to be named to the Team of the Decade at @FCNantes. 🙏 💪 Fier d'être nommé dans l'équipe type de la décennie du @FCNantes. 💛💚#FCNantes #Ligue1 #LaBeaujoire 🔰 pic.twitter.com/K7OZVWq1Dj— Alejandro Bedoya (@AleBedoya17) January 11, 2020
Bedoya was an unused sub at Couva because it was taken as more or less given that Nagbe was the man. Arriola was taken off at 46' for Dempsey. Kellyn Acosta came on for Villafana 72' and Feilhaber came on for Nagbe 84' The last score of the evening was Pulisic at 47' on assist from Nagbe to make it 1-2 final score.
Rumor is FCD signed a veteran left back which only makes sense if one of Hollingshead, Nelson or Cannon leave. HoHead signed a new deal. Nelson was injured a lot last season and while he played for NTSC he can't be worth much. So let's assume there's a lot more smoke to the fire that Cannon is leaving. It's really the only thing that makes the most sense, if FCD signed a vet left back.
Cannon is a right back, though. Are you thinking that Hollingshead would switch over to the right side and the new signing would take the LB spot?
FCD needs depth at fullback whether Reggie leaves or not. Even if he stays, he could be gone a lot with the USMNT and U23s. Howeveer, I think most FCD fans have thought for a long time that this is the window that well Reggie leave in. FCD has spent the off-season signing their core domestic players to long-term deals (Hollingshead, Hedges, Gonzalez, Pomykal, Ferreira). We'd heard that there were discussions with Reggie, but no deal was reached. They've got Hollingshead and Nelson, and they can both play on either side. And then 18 year old USYNTer Bryan Reynolds. So a little more competition will be a good thing. There are also hints that they may be signing academy product Eddie Munjoma to a homegrown deal. He can play both sides as well.
I hope it's a sign that Cannon is actually making a transfer during to Europe. Berhalter hurt his perception by playing a lower to mid tier sometimes starting EPL rb ahead of him, even though Cannon out-performed him. Gregg did the bare minimum by ensuring he got the WP. But as far as Hollingshead, it wouldn't be positive for his outlook, and the team's, if they plan to move him from lb. I thought they finally figured out that's where they should have been employing him all along considering he was a team MVP candidate, instead of using him as a swiss army knife where his effectiveness drops.
Nelson and HoHead can both play each side. While I'm sure each wants a set position, a starting job regardless of side would make them both happy and Nelson was good before he got injured. FCD isn't going to pay a FB what Cannon wants. Fair enough if Reggie can get a better deal elsewhere. Rotation, injuries, and callups means FCD needs another guy and selling Cannon pays the bills. It would work for everyone if a deal can be made.
Frolm MLS site. Which one is US eligible when he gets US passport? They may be Argentines by birth, but Ezequiel Barco, Franco Escobar and Eric Remedi will no longer occupy an international roster slot for Atlanta United after the club announced Tuesday that they’ve become permanent U.S. residents. They join striker Josef Martinez (Venezuela), midfielder/defender Julian Gressel (Germany) and forward Hector Villalba (Argentina) as international players who don’t occupy a Five Stripes' international slot, after they’ve all received green cards. https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2020...anco-escobar-and-eric-remedi-no-longer-occupy I'm thinking Barco 2026
After gaining permanent residency, a green card, there is a 5 year wait period before you can apply for citizenship. There are a bunch of other requirements, but that's the basic info. If you get married, then there is only a 3 year wait. Also, lucky for them--I think when my dad got his citizenship there was a 10-year wait period. I was like 8 when he became a citizen.
https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2020...d-status-eastern-conference-ahead-2020-season Curly Doyle says it is apparently Trapp who is on the trading bloc at Columbus. I'd love to see him in Toronto so we can find out how well he can actually play. With Fraser, Trapp, Bradley able to play dmid, they can move Delgado around and be set. If Delgado is out they can move Fraser or Trapp into his spot. They could really use Trapp's passing with Gonzo and Mavinga sitting behind at cb. Doesn't appear to be many trades/purchases affecting USMNT. Ben Sweat is going to Miami. Parks is staying in NYCFC on permanent deal.
Bobby Wood is reportedly finalizing a move to FC Cincinnati. #FCCincy #MLS https://t.co/hZklYfAv3H— SBI Soccer (@SBISoccer) January 29, 2020 Ives is reporting that Bob Wood is coming to MLS. Beats FC Bench.
I could definitely see Wood getting some mojo back, scoring goals in MLS, and working his way back into the USMNT picture, especially given our other forward options. I do worry, though, about his chances of success at a team like Cinci. The couple times I saw them play last year, they looked more USL-level than MLS-level, making it hard for a striker to get many scoring chances.
From what I've seen of his time in the Bundesliga there's very few forwards in the world more prepared for that.
BREAKING: CST is hearing from league sources that the Bobby Wood deal is stalled and unlikely. Terms are agreed to but it sounds like Cincinnati is not the right fit for Bobby at this point.— Cincy Soccer Talk (@cincysoccertalk) January 30, 2020
@Dr.Phil maybe elsewhere in MLS. I just want to see the guy playing. He's being held hostage by his big contract it seems.
We know Kicker has it out for him with their 6 fest, but seems Whoscored is also piling on. Under “Bobby Wood Characteristics”. they have a laundry list of weaknesses (i.e, finishing, holding onto the ball, discipline, defensive contribution) but under strengths only “player has no significant strengths”. I have never seen that before.
