Its ridiculous , even with VAR it happens, quite nervewrecking to be honest.

There are rumors that Zico might replace Moriyasu.

I don't find this idea appealing. If you want a change, let Yokouchi take charge because he has followed this u23 generations for a long time, he understands the players. Since Moriyasu's job with the senior team is still acceptable, let he continues and gives Yokouchi advice with senior slots.

Yokouchi executes the instructions of Moriyasu (who will probably stay in charge).

Yeah this thing causes some funny comments from our Vietnamese fans. Some still criticize his weak defensive settings, some praise his attractive football and take turn to criticize our own team as too negative lol

Personally I don't care if the football is too offensive or defensive, as long as the team shows a cohesive structure and clear strategy, which I still haven't found in Japan u23 team.

Does anyone know if Japan under Moriyasu implements any modified rondos?
Time after time, I only found 8 v 2 things, or any circuits used to create a certain movement like an Italian model implemented by Sarri or Conte or Simeone at Atletico?

But Yokouchi's played very differently from Moriyasu's.
That's why I've said before that we played like Yokouchi's team Vs Jamaica.

Another controversial penalty that gave Saudi Arabia a semi-final spot. No VAR review as usual.

I really think Yokouchi should come back to head the Olympic team. He has been with the core of the team for quite some time and hence he may know better than Moriyasu on how to utilize the players' strengths better.
OTOH, this allow Moriyasu to focus solely on the Senior team.

I guess will see more of this in the upcoming Asian competitions with those two countries (SA & QT). Money DOES talk. Asian Handball is already ruined thanks to them.

Well, while the refereeing is as atrocious as always, it would've been no problem if we played properly as a team. Everyone has always said that the Asian level keeps on improving, no, the Asian level is always sucked. If Japan played at its standard, it should've been walking in the park, seriously. It's the coaching that let us down. It's very often, we faced the match with a completely wrong mentality.

What are you talking about. Are you part of the coaching staff to confirm this?

What exactly are the instructions of Moriyasu?

Care to describe this? What Moriyasu football is all about because you seem to be one of few.

Having watched Yokouchi’s games and results wise, the players seem more focused under him.

Yokouchi was Moriyasu's assistant the whole time at Hiroshima lol. And I talked to him during the Toulon Tournament. There is no secret magic that turns this wildly inconsistent squad into Barcelona when he's in charge.

And I don't care to talk about philosophies and other abstractions.

Any update about that Zico rumor?
Maybe JFA's white collars got drunk after work and call him as a joke and then forgot about it.
Cuz it would be ridiculous any kind of manager change 6 months before the most important football event in Japanese soil since 2002.

You sure like bringing up irrelevant facts.

Your first sentences is absolutely irrelevant.

"lol"? Not sure what is so funny about crashing out in the group stage six months from the Olympics on home ground.

Sure, you had an informal chat to him in Toulon. What did you expect? Did you expect Yokouchi to tell a member of the public that he's going against Moriyasu's tactics and be sacked from the JFA next morning? You're not that gullible are you?

You sure like bringing up Barcelona every time. Why? No one in this forum or the Japanese football community expect this U23 to perform like Barcelona. I repeat literally nobody expects this.

What I hope it that every time the U23 get together to represent their country (whether for the Olympics or a so-called irrelevant AFC tournament) the 11 players on the pitch are trying their best to execute a clear game plan from the manager. And if plan A fails then I expect the manager to change to plan B and plan C or try introducing a new player from the bench when there is still more than two minutes left.

Widely inconsistent squad? The U23 team under Moriyasu has been consistently woeful. Getting smashed 4-0 by Uzbekistan at the 2018 AFC U23 championships. Finishing bottom of the group at 2020 AFC U23 championships. Losing to Colombia at home without putting up a fight.

You don't care to talk about philosophies and other abstractions? Why not? Big words coming from someone normally so condescending. Most likely because you (like everyone else) really have no idea how to describe what Moriyasu football really is about.

Well, Halilhodzic was sacked 2 mths before the WC too. Maybe Moriyasu won't go but at least I think Yokouchi gets more input in how the Olympic team plays.
Well, Yokouchi and Moriyasu worked together for quite some time in Sanfreece, maybe they can work something out together.

I accept that CONCACAF referees are genuinely incompetent and nothing can be done about it but Asia is even worse.

You forgot to mention that football coaching isn’t exclusively about instructions and tactics.

Some coaches seem to know their players better and know how to motivate them to deliver results.

Moriyasu so far does not seem to be the kind of the coach that can motivate his players or challenge them to deliver results when things go south.

I didn’t mention this as I thought this assumed knowledge Moriyasu is not remotely close to being a motivator nor do his players give a sh!t about him.

Beating Brazil away and taking them to penalties at the final in Toulon. Which manager was that?

Failing miserably at 2018 and 2020 AFC championship. Which manager was that?

Looks like the players actually look focused and motivated under the first guy.

As one would say “make the connections”.
