Beric and Gimenez are 28, that's pretty much the prime for any player, they should be at their peak for 3 years.
Does anyone know anything about Gimenez? He seems to have a bit of a spotty career, and only joined Velez, for $1.3 million, in 2018. Has not played that much, until recently. According the report, 'Gimenez, 28, has made 36 appearances and recorded two assists for Velez Sarsfield since joining in 2018." https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2020...fer-velez-sarsfield-midfielder-gaston-gimenez And the report says it would require an $8 million bid for him. According to transfermarkt, his "value" is about $5 million (a huge jump from his value and cost in 2018) and he has been playing DM and CB quite a bit. He has 1 cap (for 2 minutes in a friendly). https://www.transfermarkt.us/gaston-gimenez/leistungsdaten/spieler/216758
Translate the Twitter reactions to the rumors from Velez fans. They are not happy at all about his potential departure.
By that standard, Beric will be a good guy for us it seems too. Yeah he's super popular with the fans there too. I'm not going to say he'll be a success, but I'm giving everyone the benefit of the doubt here and will be optimistic until they give me reason not to be.
I've watched Beric's highlight videos, he is very much a poacher that can play back to goal. His range extends to just outside the box, good in the air. Not sure about his speed vs MLS defenders. Those claiming Ligue 1 is miles ahead of MLS should watch his highlights, the goalkeeping and defending on a bunch of his goals leaves much to be desired.
I spent last year in Toulouse and I've had the pleasure (?) of watching Toulouse face off against another relegation dweller. The quality of the soccer was well below a middle of the road MLS team, and probably more in line with what you'd see in USL. Of course, PSG is much, much better than any team in MLS, so I could see why people think Ligue 1 is miles ahead if they're spending they're time watching PSG play Marseilles.
I am not on twitter. I want to know how he is a player. I am less concerned about the small group of fans on the "twitterverse" and their bitching about regarding his potential leaving. Good god, imagine if I WAS on twitter and how much I would have done with the treatment and subsequent departure of Nikolic. "Everybody" would think Nikolic was f'n Messi or something. Here on BigSoccer is bad enough. I would be a nightmare with twitter!
The below article is from December, the Fire have inquired about 3 of the named players. http://www.sport.pl/pilka/7,65039,2...i-moze-trafic-do-usa-wraz-z-nim-czterech.html
It's official, per team social media. Nice little presentation on Insta. Got to think he'll be here this season.
That may be a compliment so...thanks??? MLS Cup (2026) HERE WE COME! [unless he as great as his brother, in which case, USL here we come]
I thought we would trade his rights for Garner bucks. I hope his time with the team is far more successful than his brothers.
I was left with impression that his brother was terribly mismanaged and didn't really have much chance of being successful, hence Mauricio's not signing before. I take his signing as a sign that he feels player development will be handled better going forward. Or should I take this to the Optimism Thread?
If Raheem has indeed received a Green Card, then we only have (officially, for the moment) two International spots occupied, giving us pretty good operational flexibility on player acquisition. Hell of a change from last year.
So, for the moment we've got the lowest value roster in the league per transfermarkt. But, adding Beric would take us past 7 other teams.
