I too would like to see Gio stick around w/ BVB for a while. They are going to lose Sancho in the Summer... So Gio could play a major role next season. He is only signed thru June of 2021... I would like to see him extend out for a couple of seasons. I like BVB a lot. He shouldn't be in any rush to move. I could see him put up stats that far exceed those that CP put up there. It is a fantastic offensive system. On the same token, while Sancho is a true stud... I think he is going to find it a lot harder to accumulate nearly his current level of stats in the EPL. BTW... let the hype train begin... Just google his name and there are several outlets reporting his promotion to the 1st team: https://soccer.nbcsports.com/2020/0...a-dortmund-usmnt-bundesliga-americans-abroad/ https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2020...s-borussia-dortmund-promotion-permanent-first https://www.si.com/soccer/2020/01/15/giovanni-reyna-borussia-dortmund-first-team The MLS site is calling it a "permanent move".
I've seen so little of him that I hate to put this in writing but he has at times reminded me of Ballack. If he is anything at all like Ballack in the end, he will be able to play nearly any position on the field.
Nah smithfan, but thats great to know. How old is his other son? I could use another wonderkid to obsess over
I think he could play the 9... and I am pretty sure the article mentioned him in the midfield.... but he played Winger in both of the friendlies in Spain. Haaland will be the new main 9... so Gio could sub in for him but I think they are looking for him to take over at Winger when Sancho leaves.
I don't believe his style suits a striker role. A deep lying forward or attacking midfielder. He's an almost languid dribbler, sort of the opposite of CP who operates best with a burst of acceleration. If I can analogize from another sport and from the past, Gio is more like Bobby Orr, arguably the goat in the NHL, certainly the goat of NHL defenders. I love the way Gio, almost in slo-mo, almost gently brushes off and turns defenders just as they must be thinking, "I've got this guy; that ball is mine." He inevitably creates time and space for others. Believe the hype. IMHO, it is accurate, although I don't put much stock in the comparison to CP. Same level perhaps, but a different position. FWIW, I like Gio's style of dribbling just as much as CP's.
I see him as a floating AM or secondary striker that's given lots of freedom but tends to play centrally between the lines, but lots will change once he starts playing against adults.
Hopefully he is getting everything in order to apply for a Portugese passport (if he doesn't already have one).
Just a thought, but is it possible that Gio ends up sort of how Schweinsteiger developed? Correct me if I'm wrong but he started out on the wings and then moved centrally. I've never thought of him being a Central Mid, but it's been really hard to project exactly where he's going to end up because he looks so different playing with the adults than at the youth levels.
I believe Gio has 3 games to break Sahin's record (17 years, 82 days) for youngest ever Bundesliga scorer, and the rest of the season to break CP's for youngest foreigner. (and also second youngest scorer of any nationality, as Draxler and Werner would've been a smidge older should Gio grab his first goal in May) If he gets some minutes, who knows: Augsburg, Koln and Union Berlin aren't exactly juggernauts, and Dortmund have averaged 2.5 goals/gm.
🗯 #Favre: "#Reyna wird definitiv im Kader sein." #FCABVB— Borussia Dortmund (@BVB) January 16, 2020 Here is a fact:I've seen him a total ~140 minutes. Here is my opinion (formed over decades of work):Generally, I can tell in far less than 140 minutes, what's what. That said:Gio media perception is outrageously hyped vs his actual quality.Reyna name matters, A LOT.— 3four3 (@3four3) July 8, 2018
Keaton parks As someone who works in youth soccer, the comment about needing less than 140 min to identify youth talent tweet really just screams of how ignorant/ fool turd that guy must be.
Btw they listed him almost always as 2nd striker behind moukoko in u 19 games Mannn IF we can stay healthy and mentally sound, we will field a u23 squad at the world cup..... Who is gary?
We really need to encourage more "socializing" between the USMNT and USWNT. I guess we have the Dwyer/Leroux and Morgan/Carrasco offspring to look forward to.
140 mins is an exaggeration. You don't even need that much time. It's actually really simple. If you are Gary Kleiban's client, you're good. If you're not Gary Kleiban's client, you suck.
Its been a while since I lived in the us of a. Please for the love of god tell me, this gary guy is not a "thing" in america now? Also menendez and llandes stock just dropped 90%. Mannnn wtf with this gary guy, lol.... How does he even get listened to and become an agent? Oh well one more variable added to the list to survive the valley of death.
Huh? Pointing out that posters are trying to elevate one of our two historically elite players over the other is the same as starting shit? I have no interest in a pissing contest which devolves into slagging one of the two option in order to determine who's "better" between Pulisic and either Landon or Gio and wish that others wouldn't do either. That's the point. Happy to discuss how Pulisic and Gio can play together however.
I didn't realize that 3four3 is gary kleiban. I can't stand his lack of professionalism and his need to drag down kids he doesn't represent. I don't think it helps his clients at all.
