big sanchez fan here...but...this is so true.

sanchez has always had skills - repeatedly scored multiple goals /game on the international level when she first started. but her limited physical gifts have reduced similar effectiveness as she gets older.

i really hope she does well, but i fully expect her to be just ok in the nwsl.

she could thrive in mexico or spain and then we’d restart the familiar war on these boards about how ussoccer hates skillful players.

She did looked pissed. It’s not like Washington was bad. But at the same time she probably wanted Portland.

She's going to a very good, young team.
It's a good situation for her to develop in.

I've read several articles in the past week suggesting that this year is a relatively weak class.

If SBFC lands Mallory for 3 picks in this draft and a first round next year then Alyse Alahue should be given a raise. She have completely turn this team around and even I might be tempted to get a season ticket for SBFC which I haven't done since WPS years.

That’s big. Saw on Facebook about the unnamed player for picks so either Rose Lavelle or Pugh.

Orlando is liking defenders. Smart in a way, since they needed defensive help, but IDK about the wisdom of having a backline of rookies.

They have Ali Krieger and some other veterans to help out.

Those veterans were the crew that shipped 50+ goals last year... I think it would've been wiser to trade for better veterans than to bank on mixing the existing veterans with rookies.

Yeah I don't get the strategy here. If defense is your big focus, I'll rather they looked to target one or two gaurantee starters and if not trade these mid level picks to teams like NCFC to get an established player.
As it stands right now they will probably only sign one or two of these 542 defenders that they drafted.

I cannot wait for the day when the pro teams find and develop young players, so they won't need to go to high school and college teams. It's just better for the top players to be surrounded by and competing against comparable top talent and developed by better coaches at a young age.

Also, it's difficult assessing talent at the college level with the competition level being so different and inconsistent.

Whatever happened to Taylor Racioppi from Duke? She graduated in 2018, but didn't make the NWSL? She was a top recruit heading into college.

Am I the only one who thinks Kornieck to Orlando was a great pick?
