No need to sticky, I say. 2018 and 2019 threads survived just fine without it.

    "The Man" returns...

Let's hope he has something left in the tank and can provide the central attacking that we saw before.

Now that the signings have slowed, here is the current roster:

    Rafael Diaz - GK
    Matt Mahoney - FB/CB
    Dekel Keinan - CB
    Juan Barahona - FB
    Jordan McCrary - FB
    Shannon Gomez - FB
    Andrew Wheeler-Omiunu - D/MF
    Jaime Villareal - MF
    Sam Werner - MF
    Drew Skundrich - MF
    Rodrigo Lopez - MF
    Vilyan Bijev - MF
    Dariusz Formella - MF/F
    Kharlton Belmar - MF/F
    Cam Iwassa - F

That's 15 senior roster positions. We're still lacking a GK, two CB's (Mitchell, Mitchell Taintor?), and perhaps a true forward. If Lopez is to be used as an attacking center mid, it would make sense to get another as depth because I don't think that player is on the roster yet, unless it's Formella.

Besides Taintor, Aleman is the remaining unknown from last season, assuming that Bonomo is not in the equation.

Last season we carried 20 senior roster players (not academy kids) and the year before we carried 21 (22 if you count Hategan).

New center back, possibly a starter...

The second overall pick by Galaxy in 2018 MLS draft, he's spent his time playing for Galaxy II. He led the team in most defensive categories, but the Gals gave up a lot of goals last season.

I think the next two years will bring our share of MLS-caliber "trialists."

Just to be clear, by "trialists" I mean fringe MLS caliber. USL probably already has a bunch of these guys throughout.

I think Hillard Arce is gonna be huge for Sac. He might be one to keep around during the promotion to MLS

Academy players have signed senior roster contracts. Note that these appear to be professional contracts, not the academy/amateur contract.

Penagos is an MF who has played on the U-17 MNT while Sargis is a defender who's spent time in U.S. Soccer Development Academy.

Of course, Hategan never got senior team action in league play, so who knows if they're anything more than end-of-the-roster depth.

Now that Simon is no longer the coach, I don't think these guys will be XXIII filler.

Late in the 2018 season, Orlando City loaned Grinwis to Real Monarchs for the remainder of the season where he made four appearances with the USL side before being recalled back to his parent MLS club.
