As I said I don’t get the move lol though I find it hard to believe that Flo would bring in players against Zizou’s wishes after begging him to come back.

This Isco to Chelsea stuff has gained some steam. Doubt he will leave. It's probably bullshit.

Super Meh signing imo. I don’t see anything special in the guy. Maybe he’ll arrive and pull a Valverde and surprise everyone.

Hopefully it’s just a smokescreen to lower price demands on other targets.

I don't even want Pogba anymore. Bring back Odegaard and a back up DM instead.

I wasn’t buying the Van de Beek nonsense 6 months ago and I don’t buy it now.

Kroos Casemiro Valverde are first midfielders on game sheet. Factor in Odegaard returning plus Isco who I doubt is ever leaving and the mid is full. Modric, James, Ceballos all up in the air.

60m for a bench option, not happening.

There’s reason for skepticism with these rumors, but let’s not be surprised if we were to go get another midfielder.

If the last few games have shown anything, it’s that Zizou and everyone at Real doesn’t see the squad the way we do. Most of us are wedded to a 433 idea and yet we trotted out 5 midfielders in the last couple matches. Kroos is doing great but he’s on the other side of 30 and who knows how much rotation he will need in the near future. There’s uncertainty of the future for at least 3 midfielders currently on the roster.

Maybe it does or doesn't happen but the truth is van de Beek is better than any MF you have on your current squad.

Seriously, there is probably no better reaction than that.

I like VdB, I think he would be a good addition to this squad, but to even mention him in the same breath as Kroos and Casemiro is just trollish.

I liked him as an option this summer before the way Fede and Ode have established themselves...I wouldn't mind if he came in more of a reserve or rotational role, but not at the expense of our own in house talent

VdB is overrated, Isco for example has more technique in 1 toe than VdB in his whole body. Needs a lot of chances to make a goal. He excels in Ajax because of the system, like for example Klaassen did and he had even better numbers. 0 sense for us buying anyone from Ajax atm let alone VdB. I'd rather get Ziyech who really is the brain of your team. Players like him make VdB better than they actually are.

He doesn't even play midfield for Ajax (at least in the roles we have Kroos, Valverde, Casemiro).

Dude plays as a faux 9. Literally.

You said this a couple of times, but it is not true. He plays indeed more attacking and he is a lot of times in the box, but he doesn’t play as a faux 9. Tadic actually plays there. But Ajax play in a strange way, they have 70-80% of the ball so it maybe seems that he plays as a faux 9 because the attack a lot in that semi prof league. His best position is as a cm (more the Modric role).

I think we need a CDM more, and 55M is not cheap. But IF we buy him, it better be a Zidane purchase. Otherwise it would be foolish to buy someone he doesn’t want.

Sometimes I really think 99% of Ajax fans are stupid and don’t have any logic. Some friends of mine are Ajax fans as well so I know what I’m talking about. I like VDB as a player, but in no way he is better than our midfielders. You guys had 1 good season and you think that your players are the best in de world. Just stop this nonsense.

Well, IF Zidane indeed wants him then I’m sure he knows where to play him. But we will see in the summer. We don’t even know if Modric is staying or not.

His current deal ends this June without rumours of an extension. Safe to say he is gone at the end of the season

RMBS wants him. Dutch media wants us to want him. Florentino probably was advised to sign him.

There is nothing that supports that Zidane wants him. Had he wanted him he would already be here.

We know Zidane wants Pogba and Mbappe. He has come out publicly and clarified his stances on them. Where are the public declarations or clarifications on VdB?

All we have is media and posters begging us to sign him in the summer and Zidane slow playing happy to go into the season with a midfield addition if it was Pogba.

Again, if I'm wrong about VdB being great or a worldbeater, I will own it.

He is definitely not a worldbeater, but imo he can add something different than the players we have (ofcourse not as a starter). We also need good players on the bench and if Modric and James leave, then we need another midfielder.

On the other hand, I get why you are pessimistic. He plays in a very bad league and already cost 55M. So I do understand why you wouldn’t want him. Again, we’ll see. The only think I hope is that ZZ is behind the purchase when we will indeed buy him.

Even if we are looking for alternatives for Toni and Luka because of age, IMO VDB is not that guy anyway, not a horrible player but a completely different kind of player , I don’t see him dictating the pace of games like Toni and he doesn’t have the allround quality of Luka, at least not at this time, right now I’m perplexed as to why we would be getting him

I’m not endorsing the signing as I don’t watch him enough to give an assessment. He did impress me in last years champions league run.

But as a rebuttal to your point, I would suggest that we may not stay wedded to these profiles of players of the old guard. For example, I could see a midfield of Valverde Casemiro Odegaard and Vdb beneath Mbappe and Hazard, would be an interesting lineup to deploy.

    Not claiming you are

Looks interesting on paper or should I say on screen, I’d have to see what that looks like actually playing on the pitch.
