Gio was integral in a 3rd goal by Guerreiro. Hockey assist after good defensive work / dribbling in tight space along the touch line.

Promising sign that he’s going > 45 with such a strong Dortmund line up.

Wow. All of a sudden there was an acre of open space right in front of the goal. Props to Gio for running into it, demanding the ball and then finishing.

And a relatively simple assist by Gio on a cracker by Fuhrich.

    subbed out at 70 minutes.

If he plays at any point in their next few matches, he will be the fourth youngest bundesliga player of all time. And it certainly looks like they plan on using him.

Nice little game. It is on YouTube if you want to watch a replay.

Really great to see Gio out there with mostly other regular starters.

I just want to point out what a good friend to the US and pretty low level ego Reus is. He's helped and accepted Pulisic and now Reyna while not big timing them. He was giving some advice after Reyna's goal and looking back he was making a run up the middle. What works in a scrimmage may not against RBL and Bayern.

    Rep. Thanks for posting.

Although he made more mistakes in this appearance it is clear that he is a difference-maker. He just has to adjust to how quickly the defenders will be on him at this level. 70 minutes in this one. Who knows? Maybe he will be on the bench this Spring.?.?

Reus is the heart and soul of the team. Quality person and fantastic footballer.

So probably won’t be an option off the bench in the next few games?

I used the term "Spring" to signify the 2nd half of the season. Honestly, I have no idea what is going to happen. He doesn't really have anything left to prove at the Youth Level... which is saying a lot at his age... but the roster is chalk-full of offensive weapons. Just gotta hope he has impressed enough.

He's played in both of the friendlies that also featured BVB's usual starters and better players, and given these aren't big money preseason friendlies in the US, I'd consider that a more significant than not. They have a game to get ready for next weekend.

I think we're going to see him in the ruckrunde.

I too think we'll see him. Both of these friendly appearances were up top. I think he's listed as a midfielder with the U19s. So, a guy like Rashl (german youth who has been riding the bench last fall) will be less of an overlap for Gio. Plus, a young, inexperienced forward is more likely to get playing time in BL games because of less D liability (as opposed to a mid-fielder or defender). So, I'd say in one of BVB's blowout games he gets some looks. Sooner rather than later IMHO.

I don't think just because of the goal but because he shows well. In that other friendly he was pulled down multiple times because he was getting into dangerous situations (from the opponent's perspective). This latest game I'll admit I didn't watch too close...need to watch the first half again.

BVB’s first 3 games are against Augsburg, Köln, and Union Berlin...fairly cupcakey. Hopefully Gio can get some PT

    Sancho. Haaland. Gio.
That would be pretty awesome to see this front three.

Hit that translate tweet link at the bottom. Basically it says Gio was the big winner of training camp.

I am very excited to see this. Not only because of our boy, but I like to watch Dortmund. They play attractive football and these three fit the mold. So, it's a win-win. Goi excels and Dortmund entertains me. After all, it's all about me.

Nothing really here. Has a pic of Gio but just mentions a couple players who are hurt.

Yup... Transfermarkt has him officially joining the 1st team on 1/12/20:

    https://www.transfermarkt.us/giovanni-reyna/profil/spieler/504215

Wild... just turned 17 and going to be part of a Bundesliga title race for the time being... really hoping he gets some playing time and the move is permanent. He really looked like a full BVB player during the friendlies... both skill-wise and with respect to his size. The fact that he doesn't weigh next to nothing should help him take the physical nature of the top league. Just super geeked. Adams is back and Gio could get some minutes soon. Awesome.
