Have just watched the Beleza v Chifure semi again and although I am a 'green' I have to say I think Urawa Chifure would have made an excellent final. They played some attractive football and I think it's a shame they went out.

I was wondering about a quite a few players who were formerly on the some of the Women's Teams and wondered why some of them never quite were able to crack regular roles on the hierarchy of the Nadeshiko Women's National Team. Many names come to mind that have "fallen" off the radar. Such as Yoko Tanaka, Hanae Shibata etc. etc. etc. Would some of the more knowledgeable Nadeshiko followers care to add to this list and comment on what happened to side track their promising careers from the Nadeshiko National Team? I think it would be quite an interesting discussion. BEST WISHES FOR 2020 to ALL!
That generation involving Shibata was picked up in media a lot because of some good-looking players (especially Naomoto, Nakada and Tanaka Yoko) of U20 WWC in Japan. And someday Takakura said with regret that they had not improved so much after that maybe because they had been somewhat indulged by media. In addition, generations under them were superior in some sense like Hasegawa, Sugita, Momiki or of course one more lower aged one who won the last year U20 WWC. Then the space they could enter would've disappeared.
This to me seems very sad. Yes I remember Ayu Nakada and Tanaka Yoko. I thought they were quite promising players.
Happy New Year from me too. I have been overseas in the last pair of days, with limited access to the internet. But I count on soon properly opening the 2020 thread; not sure if I'll make it today, but tomorrow I should be able to do that.
These ladies are charming and well worth putting a beautiful end to this big 2019 thread. I have already opened the new 2020 thread, and I am going to ask a mod to lock this one, so make sure to traslate all the discussions there.
