Bruno Henrique gives Flamengo the 2:1 lead. They have looked the better team in the second half. Can Al Hilal respond?
Good match. Flamengo showed their class in the 2nd half while Al-Hilal looked like they ran out of gas a bit early. Interesting how fielding good foreign players would help your team tremendously. I don't think Al-Hilal would fare this well if they had fielded an all 11 Saudi players. One part of the 1981 reunion is in, let's wait for the other.
I will take the unpopular view here and say yet another reason to have the CWC every 4 years in the Summer. So kids like that don't have to play in games like today.
Who were Qatari's rooting for? Considering the political climate with SA, were they rooting for Flamengo?
All I saw was some of Esperance supporters cheering for Flamengo. Tunisians are not that fond of Saudi AFAIK.
Personally, I love that teams in English League One and Two have to play in three domestic cups in addition to their 46-game league campaign. Really tests the depth of barely professional fourth-tier clubs. English football, in particular, needs a restructure.
As meaningless as this CWC is, it makes more sense than 1 every 4 years. But the 2nd option will make FIFA more money.
oh really? France are already doing this... https://www.espn.co.uk/football/fre.../au-revoir!-french-football-ending-league-cup
The quadrennial tournament is going to rule. I wish the qualification was a little bit different, but I'm really looking forward to it.
