It's required by law for all employers in Costa Rica to pay that 13th month (it's called "aguinaldo").
You won’t make much money. I’ve never heard of anyone who thinks the Bible is a scientific book but not a theological one.
Finland did do a test but it was more targeted* than universal. They selected certain people who could benefit from it and found that it helps alleviate stress, but not the employment market. The other issue would be costs and whether it'd help alleviate it. And in a country as big as the US, there's so many other factors ranging from cost of living (What would be sufficient in say Omaha wouldn't be sufficient in Boston for for example), I'll also add that given that Silicon Valley seems to be supportive of it, I'm more skeptical because of that factor. Reason one being that Silicon Valley promotes things that have a tendency to backfire. To add, Facebook has been an advocate of it, but they've been trying to avoid paying taxes. Where does the money for UBI come from in this case? And as much as we hear the hype about robots and such, we're a long way from machines making life easier, if at all. Human ingenuity is something I feel tech underestimates. *: University of Helsinki post on the matter: https://www.helsinki.fi/en/news/nor...ults-from-the-finnish-basic-income-experiment
Every single Republican candidate in 2016 claimed to believe that the earth is 5000 years old. Every single one.
You know YTFOLX don't believe any of that mumbojumbo. Jesus dropped them down right where their 23&me says they started
Have Mardel Christian & Education stores made it out to your neck of Turtle Island or do you have a more regional flavored pusher of Homeschool texts that teach that the entire universe is in fact, 6299 years old? To be fair, the Bible Belt is not as monolithic as it's often portrayed... And the Quiver Full wing (Uterus as a Clown car) of the Homeschool Cult and others take literal interpretations of the Bible, Literally
That is because they think it is better than any scientific book, Evolution is bullshit, the bible is fact, and creationist is the real science.
Yeah, and the Flintstones was a historical documentary that proves that humans and dinosaurs both lived on the earth at the same time.

The assault on the ACA continues. I wonder what is the Republican's plan if and when at some point they succeed in striking the whole thing down. My guess is they will just let 'the market' take care of all the people that suddently find themselves without healthcare options, and still somehow blame Obama for that. https://www.cnn.com/2019/12/18/politics/obamacare-appeal-ruling/index.html
1. wasn't the individual mandate repealed? 2. I was under the impression that Roberts had ruled that the penalties for the mandate was a tax, so it was constitutional. 3. if it stands, that is a problem in forcing healthy young people into buying insurance (if Democrats take over government and try to bring it back).
ok, that explains that part, but now (or for the second time), it has been declared unconstitutional pending appeal.
Correct. Without reading the ruling, there may be a difference in the ruling as well. I believe the last one said that dropping the tax down to $0 made it unconstitutional. This one seems to be arguing that the individual mandate itself is unconstitutional.
Repeal the law requiring hospitals to treat people with no insurance. Then the rest of us won't have to subsidize those who choose not to be insured.
QBert's statement was a piggyback off yours, not necessarily a rebuttal. And it was accurate. No, you don't. You live in what is commonly understood to be the most urbane and cultured group of cities in the south. North Carolina, even taken as a whole, is not a shithole of bassackward religious indoctrination- Alabama is. I live in the Bible Belt. EDIT: I see you live in Virginia now, not North Carolina. Apologies. But VA's proximity to DC civilizes it a bit.
