those videos leave you speechless. if they're not faked, the USA is really effed up, but I guess we already knew that given the state of US politics and seeing who's in the Oval Office.
If you lie to people while you are interviewing them, by telling them that something happened that didn't, and their answer is obviously absurd, the problem isn't in the answer, it's in the question. If you don't know that, then the problem with you is that you think that being duplicitous in the media is perfectly fine. It's not fine. It's dishonest.
Yeah it's definitely wrong to ask those mensa members about the war in Vietnam. Very tricky and dishonest. Especially the lady whose answer to all the questions was more or less "I don't care, I just like him."
that is so absurd it almost defies response. this was from a TV COMEDY SHOW ffs, not a news outfit. it was Jimmy Kimmel's show, not MSNBC!! the fact that your knee-jerk response is to ignore the stupidity of the Trump supporters, and to immediately attack the media speaks volumes about how effective right-wing brainwashing has been. do you think it's OK that people who display that level of stunning ignorance and stupidity are able to vote?
Eh, on one hand there are probably more ignorant people in the USA than other countries just due to our education system and superiority complex. On the other hand, we don't know how long it took them to find these specific morons and how many people caught them on the interview and said "WTF are you talking about? Vietnam was 45 years ago!" Jay Leno use to do this on his show too. They use to show an "average American" a map of the world and tell them to pick out whatever country we were battling in one form or another and they had no idea. Many of them didn't even know where Africa was and some couldn't even pick out where we were on the map. I still think it must have taken some work to find some that dumb but maybe I'm naive.
you're not wrong, burning. among 300 million or so ppl (I don't know how many adults) you're bound to find a bunch of idiots if you look long enough .... and the vast majority of Americans I've met in person would certainly respond as you describe. but holy shit - the fact that this level of idiocy even exists is really really mind-boggling.
What the knee-jerk type reaction misses is the willingness of people with minds pre-disposed to favour the actions of Trump to accept whatever it is he will be doing or is doing before it is even explained to them. That's the key to this. (I'd agree with Burning247 about the sample size though. They simply couldn't hit this many morons in a row without hitting a few republicans who would say - hey man, c'mon, Haldemann wasn't part of the Trump set-up, etc. But the real key is that they, in general, don't really listen. They hear "Trump or an associate did this - was it okay?" The prime question being thus already suitably distorted. It is already de facto okay by virtue of just being the questioning of Trump, etc. This kind of herd thinking and the socially numbing effects of its manipulation by a continual sequence of distorted trigger issues is largely why we are here today. What many intelligent people on the political right refuse to face up to though, is the deeper question of why it is possible to manipulate people on one side of the political aisle far more than it is on the other.. People don't come to conclusions, such as that immigrants are out to wreck the country, or that having your health needs taken care of by government when you can't afford it yourself is bad for you, by themselves, naturally. Not without a whole sinister apparatus of propaganda being pumped at them in a bubble, and sly worthless coyotes like Lindsey Graham repeating it at them. Problem is that, uniquely in the developed world, large tracts of America are in a weird bubble and have always been. Someone might want to think about getting a pin to finally prick that bubble properly though, because it's getting very dangerous.
So today Trump tweets he has fantastic hearing. He says he has tried but it is impossible to overhear both sides of a phone call. WTF??? My hearing isn't what it once was but I overhear both sides of other peoples phone calls on a daily basis without even trying. If someone blatantly lies about something as stupid as that (and there are plenty other examples), how can a reasonable person not question every other word that comes out of his mouth? And then wonder about the submerged part of the iceberg that is all the things he hasn't told you about? Trump really does think his supporters are idiots. And relies on it.
Jim Jordan and Devin Nunes also think the American people are all idiots. Those two clowns would stand in a torrential downpour and tell people that there's no truth to the Democrats saying that it's raining. The GOP members couldn't even agree on Russian interference, with several saying that Russia definitely meddled, while some kept calling it the "Russia hoax." It's maddening. Fortunately, Dr. Hill and Mr. Holmes weren't putting up with their bullshit.
I always liked the old line “the best argument against democracy is a 5 minute conversation with the average voter”.
I don't know if he hated it - but he didn't trust it, that's for sure. Democractic institutions become ever more open to de-stabilization when people stop actively caring about them. People on the other hand are just people......the gamut will always be full from Einstein to the utterly stupid and blind....
LOL https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...or-a-tournament-has-never-been-more-difficult “I advise my players to have $ex for short periods and with the minimum of effort and use positions where they are under their partners and preferably with their wives. Because if with others, well, that will need extra action” – Antonio Conte, there, revealing that he doesn’t just coach his players how to play football.
Does he use a whiteboard. Anatomically correct dummies. Or live models? Inquiring minds need to know.
Devin Nunes should stick to suing his cow. While Gym Jordan seemed happier knowing the kids he coached wrestling to were getting abused by the team quack.
Personally I blame Rupert Murdoch for all this trouble. Still - You've got to respect just how much of a creep you have to be to get to these guys' stature...... Flawless worthlessness......
a) why would the people being interviewed think they were being lied to? b) did they know that the interviewer was a representative of a comedy show? c) it's also an indictment of our crap education system.
