next in "don't shoot the messenger"... Welcome to the future. #cf97 pic.twitter.com/wUmPTIpIsm— Fire Rumors (@FireRumors) November 21, 2019 They kept the "gold" to a minimum at least.
Well, all this brand has working against it is urban street violence and a Dick Wolf network procedural drama. Two things that are notoriously easy to get rid of. For real though it's gonna be the gang sign thing that sinks this.
One positive note: it is in fact three colors, not five. One massive design sin down, several more to go.
again, by themselves, these are not bad designs. (the white one is actually a heck of a lot better than all the other plain white kits adidas has turned out for teams.) but with that logo on it, it just isn't the fire. can't wait to hear the explanation for all the changes. i don't know if there are that many hoops in the whole city to jump through to get people to understand their description. of course, if they win the supporters shield next year, we might like 'em a little more.
I’m trying to honestly think of a worse team logo in US professional sports. I can’t think of one. This is the worst team crest of all time.
This reminded me of something. I'd like to think the inspiration for the gold is intellectual: https://phys.org/news/2018-08-genetically-virus-gold-beads.html The oval is obviously some sort of petri dish.
From an outside perspective, since I just saw the 2-tone version yesterday for the first time and that I have always held the old logo as my favorite in MLS... after seeing the mockups in full color, I think it looks ok (except the "flame" post-modern art piece, which just falls flat for my taste)... I think the colors are fantastic and unique. Those kit photos look slicker than anything the Fire have worn in years.
At the end of the day, you just can't do this and keep the proven incompetence of NRod and the FO. You're either turning the page or you're not.
Oh, wow, a generic all white secondary strip- at there's some brand continuity! So a monochrome navy primary kit is the big switch. Okay then... again, WTF is this team still going to be called 'Fire'? I'll at least give them a little credit if they actually take the field in these- it will show they're able to at least get the ********ing timing down, if nothing else. The Motorola logo and the new badge together is kind of a weird look though. Not sure what it is about the two on the shirt together but it looks odd.
So the club has moved to a stadium that's more of a pain in the ass to reach, with parking that will be more expensive and now are going to rewrite its identity that most supporters identify with, what's the point of going to games? Unless they sign Robert Lewandowski. Like that will happen in the next coupla years.
The subtle hints of flag blue are really nice in that one. I'd like it a lot more if it didn't look so much like Philly's away from this season though.

I mean, I love Kevin Coval (narrator of the hype video), everyone should read A People's History of Chicago, but this is just ... cringe...
Also, I don't care that I'm threadshitting right now - how is this a <soft> rebrand? At all? They're removed all of the identity that, for better or worse, said Fire. It's somehow a complete rebrand that still comes off as half-assed. Whatamess.
Yeah, it's not. I really thought they'd go the DC rout and modernize the badge, but keep the colors the same. Alas, they went another direction.
