Modric didn't have the chance to play for a national team with the likes of Henry Trezeguet Barthez Desailly Lizarazu Thuram Djorkaeff Vieira Makelele etc...

Am assuming from your condescending tone that you were a follower of Juve back in the 90s? You know, when Zidane was an absolute star in the CL knockout stages, especially in the 97 semis against Ajax and the 98 R16 and quarterfinals? Or when Zidane was probably the best player in a Serie A filled with legends in 96, 97, and 01?

And since you are speaking for Juventini, you do realize they voted him into their all time 11?

Zidane won the WPOTY with us despite winning no titles in 2003, that's how good he was, and yet his Juve years he was even better get the ******** out of here with this revisionism.

I thought they have no more games to play but apparently they have one more, totally pointless game vs Georgia tomorrow. Cool gesture but it's just that, a gesture. It's been a long time since i've seen him give 100% on the field for Madrid like he does for Croatia.

If we can keep this guy fresh for the key moments, we'll always have a chance against anyone.

Valverde has already helped achieve this in making possible to give time off to the Modric/Kroos duo.

Now we need a healthy and firing James to give us extra depth.

The point is. I dont believe that if Kroos,Modrič,Valverde, Casemiro fit and our opponent Atletico/Barca or European giant Zidane will have balls to leave Modrič on the bench. I cant believe it.

360 mins in 4 games. Him and Domagoj Vida have played the most minutes for Croatia so far.

Well first I know you know we can’t equate playing a lot with playing well, but I think he has been decent for Croatia, secondly, as everyone ages they slow down, Luka may not be as good as he was pre WC2018 but he isn’t rubbish, I’d give him some slack , still a quality midfielder, one of the best we have,

he may not be able to cover as much ground as he did back then but with the inclusion of Valverde in the midfield he may not have to and thus we may get more out of him, he just may not be able to carry the same workload as he did before, and IMO he has always done a “lot” of running, he is aging but still a very good player,

I agree. If used wisely he can be very useful for us, but i think that his best days are (far) behind him and he'll most likely leave next summer. For what it's worth: i think that he's been better for Croatia than he has for us for a long time now.

He’s been the best player on the field almost every game in qualifiers. Lost a step for sure but effort and class still great.

He’s been not only super consistent but such a great player for Real Madrid. Is he more motivated playing for his country then Real Madrid these days probably yes.
Over the years Luka has been criticized for playing harder for Madrid then for his country by the press. I don’t agree as I have watched Luka play almost every game in his career. He give 100 percent almost every game whether it was any club he played for or country. The legs just are not there anymore. Can’t cover as much ground as he used to. Father Time catches up with everyone.

I’ve never seen Luka not try to give 100% for Madrid. He is a legend.

Don’t know if I fully agree with that just yet. He’s definitely older & more care needs to be given to his playing time. I think he’s had some bad luck post WC with his fitness.

Instead of trashing him like last game first 20 minutes, we should be glad. We have a CM who was crucial to our UCL's, who's still world-class on his good day. The man is 34, look at Iniesta and Xavi. Went to Japan and Qatar to sell out at that age.

Modric will either retire gracefully here or go to Serie A next season.

Iniesta went to Japan to sell wine on Rakuten. Literally one of the weirdest decisions ever. Like a brand created by one of the greatest players of his generation would need constant perspnal presence in the marketplace to do well. Don't know who advised him there but there was surely some other way to do this unless he actually wanted to live In Japan which I could totally understand.

Modric is a few step slower - no one is disputing that. At his age, he simply can't handle 50+ games a year. He is still the best when he is fit, ZZ just need to manage Modric playing time wisely.

No footballer is above criticism, and for the first part of the game he was crap. Then he came good. Everyone knows how good he is, one of our best ever, but if he’s spending 20 mins with his finger up his arse we are allowed to be annoyed.
