Yep. Since the other host in that group failed to qualify, Italy gets 3 home games. They were always going to get two but if both hosts in a group make it they have to determine who plays at home for the game between the two hosts.

And....I know we would not want us to finish 3rd in the group but if they did......there's a small chance they could play a quarterfinal game in Rome as well.

The thing I don't like about this hosting format is if England makes it to the semis they have the home crowd for both a semi final game and final.

Plus their host in their group did not quality either so they are getting three games in London as well.

Doesn’t matter where you finish as long as you go through the groups.
We (Portugal) won coming in third.
The current Euro format allows teams more
Time to gel in the beginning.

I think Italy and England will benefit from hosting some games, especially England since semis and final are at wembley if they get there.

If England were to host the entire tournament, it would be the same.

Of course but I was speaking in terms of getting a home game in the knockout rounds which of course would be beneficial.

    How about that Gallo? :)

Great job by Mancini. I was a doubter as well, but this team can win the whole thing now. I don't care who the competition is (and it wasn't that bad). 9 wins and +25 GA...when is the last time you saw Italy do that?

The key to this team is the midfield. It is absolutely stacked. Barella has exploded but you have so many good players with him as well. With Belotti in great form, that solves our prima punta situation for now. Immobile is great off the bench. Winger is set.

I think the only real weakness is maybe the fullbacks? Euro 2020 should be fun to watch and I know the Romani will be out in full force. FORZA ITALIA ANCORA!!!

Bernardeschi isn't precise enough. Chiesa is better than him.

Chiesa is way more skilled with the ball at his feet that Immobile. Completely different players and different positions.

I love Chiesa and think he's a tremendous asset to our team. No one can match his speed and ability to break down a defense in that way. He plays at such a frenetic pace at times that I think it affects his finishing. I'd like to see him actually slow down a bit more around goal because I think he'd put more away...although he's started to finish more as of late.

For me, injuries aside, and taking Mancini's comments at his word (no more experimenting with new players), this would be my 23....

CF: Belotti starts and Immobile off the bench
W: Chiesa, Berna, Insigne, and Zaniolo
M: Barella, Tonali, Verratti, Sensi, Pellegrini, and Jorginho
CB: Bonucci, Romagnoli, Mancini, and Acerbi
FB: Spinazzola, Biraghi, Di Lorenzo, and Florenzi (RB is weak spot)
    G: Donnarumma, Sirigu, Meret

There are one or two players here I would like to replace, but essentially Mancini has made them a certainty with his comments. This team can beat anybody. Are they the favorites? No. But this squad on its best day can beat France, Belgium, etc....

Chiellini should be fit by the summer--and if so, he is instantly the best defender on this team and gives it a massive lift. The weakness remains finding that reliable striker. We can live with guys like Florenzi and Spinazzola in defense if you have Bonucci and Chiello defending supported by Barella, Jorginho and Verratti. It's a good (not great) side that should compete.

Emerson should get into the side over Biraghi and I think I would also take Romanogli over Mancini, but Mancini has the ability to play in the MF too.

I would much rather take a striker other than Immobile. Hopefully a guy like Balo, Kean, Pinamonti, or Cutrone starts scoring in the 2nd half of the season.

Udinese has been the longest running Serie A team after Roma, Lazio, Milan and Inter. They even got one up on Juventus as they were in fact relegated in 2006.

Udinese has been in Serie A since the 1995-96 season. That is a great run especially since they are a smaller club.
