At this point they may just ride it out through winter break. Just speculating.

If they need to that gives him ample time but there is still 6 league games and 2 CL games until the winter break.

Is there some new reason for pessimism that I missed? I thought Nagelsmann said he'd probably be back after the international break. I figured next week would be the one to watch in terms of seeing whether he's actually back close to 100%.

Hope he signed a sweet contract before that expiration date.

Yeah, more than I thought before break starts. I’m not necessarily pessimistic, I just think German clubs tend to be cautious with fitness concerns. We’ll see!

Aren't these the guys that rushed him back from his abductor injury?

I can’t wait to see Adams at full strength, paying his natural position with the USMNT. When might that happen?

Groin injuries are obviously super common in soccer, just by the nature of all the twisting of your hips and legs. They are nagging injuries and some never seem to heal 100%. I tore mine a few years ago playing and it never seemed to heal all the way. My guess is they tried to treat with rest and physical therapy; he then reaggravated it coming back to early and then needed surgery to fix... they may have just done surgery really late in the process as it was not improving. Time frame is definitely believable considering what I went through. Frustrating injury...

Agreed. This has been a very frustrating and long injury... but career ending? That seems extremely premature to me... It was obviously a very bad groin injury and then the time missed was extended when they tried to get him back on the field before it was fully healed. Tyler said himself that one day he would be out there playing w/o pain and then the next day he would be unable to play due to the pain. Now they are being super cautious so that he doesn't aggravate it again.

He just posted an instagram story of him doing some explosive squats in the gym with elastic bands and weights. I realize a lot of his issues are probably with sharp turns and stability at high speeds but I for one am taking this as a good sign.

The problem was he would feel fine which is why he was cleared and then he would have days were he was in pain which is why he was back out.

He recovered from the Abductor in Aug and then hurt his foot (sole).

    I know about the foot.

Coming back from the abductor for a total of 91 minutes in the last two games of the season didn't seem "cautious" as the poster I quoted suggested Germans are with injuries. Cautious would've been "just wait until next year Tyler, no sense risking anything."

Adams was cleared my the medical team, completed individual training, and team training to play those 91 mins.

He then had problems. Leipzig, USMNT, and Adams seem to taking a cautious approach since there has been complications.

The problem being the career of a professional soccer player is nothing but sharp turns and stability at high speeds. NO amount of gym work can overcome a chronic anatomical susceptibility. I wish him the best.

The optimist says you can strengthen the muscles supporting joints and mitigate though not eliminate "anatomical susceptibilities". Also, Garrincha would like a word.

I’ve had multiple groin injuries, including in the middle of the SF Qualification Course. It sucks but it’s not the end of the world.

Has there been any indication that it is really his groin and not the foot problem as to the reason he has been held out as of late? I have not seen anything about the groin since August. Is there a reason they would not be forthcoming?

Everywhere I read it says "groin" --including the official reason for his exclusion from the Champions, given by the UEFA site and already quoted above.

Adams has not played for Leipzig since their DFB Cup final defeat to Bayern Munich in May 2019 because of a persistent groin problem.

Elsewhere in the Champions League, Tyler Adams remained a spectator as RB Leipzig grabbed the top spot in Group G with a 2-1 home victory over Zenit St. Petersburg. The USMNT midfielder has yet to appear this season due to a persistently nagging groin injury.
