They are just chanting Nippon. The melody is familiar, but I do not know what it is. Beleza actually do the same chant, but sing Beleza. Below is the chant from a men's game.

They also do the entertainer, but I do not hear it so much at Nadeshiko games.

It was played in Kitakyushu in Fukuoka, which is in Kyushu.

Incheon Red Angels won the Korean title by scoring in 2nd half and winning by 1-0. At least, Suwon make it quite difficult for them this time. So no title for our Haji and Ikejiri. :(

That's the one (the top video).....Thanks for that....Nipon...Nipon...Nipon...Nipon...

(felt a bit silly asking but have wanted to know what the chant was for ages)....Thanks.

Some time ago I had to explain a chant heard in mens footie in England to Japanese friend it goes...

"you're not singing..you're not singing..you're not singing anymore..you're not singing anymore"

It occurs when a team is level or ahead and that teams supporters are singing their praises loudly then the opposition score and their fans then start singing the above.

Many intersting names, most of them having had experience in youth teams, in senior team or in both. It's nice to know that they're not out of the radar yet. :)

I had almost given up on Moriya. But I guess she is fully recovered now and ready to proof what Takakura said about her in 2016: She is a very good player.

JFA decided that women's professional league will start at 2021 by 6-8 teams.

I suppose they are so few because the other ones can't afford the jump to professionalism, but it's sad that so few teams are in. NWSL showed that a professional league can somehow work with just 8-9 teams, but of course the conditions in USA are very different (the talent is spread through the various teams by design and there is not a promotion-relegation system to lower divisions).

What Nadeshiko League will surely have to borrow from NWSL, if they drop to just 6-8 teams, will be the notion that just one home & away series won't be enough and that the teams will have to meet 3 times per season in the league (or even more), unless JFA wants a shorter season, but I don't think so because it wouldn't benefit the whole movement in Japan.

Don't get me wrong, I guess professionalism is much needed to allow players to live on football and to have players available for NTs who work in an environment that let them train everyday in a professional setting, but I am afraid to see the league take too big of a step back.

It's worth to mention that this new pro-league will be independent from Nadeshiko League - which will continue to exist. It means that there will be 4 actual tiers to the women league system in Japan. I'd see it as a step forward not back.
Those 6 or 8 pro-league teams could still feature in Empress Cup and also perhaps with growing AFC Champions Legue and CWC beeing introduced around same time the number of matches played by single club in a season may very well reach 40.

    Nominees:

AFC Player of the Year (Women)

Li Ying (Guangdong Huijun FC and CHN)

Ashalata Devi Loitongbam (Sethu FC and IND)

Saki Kumagai (Olympique Lyonnais and JPN)

AFC Youth Player of the Year (Women)

    Karly Roestbakken (AUS)

    Wang Linlin (CHN)

    Jun Endo (JPN)

AFC Coach of the Year (Women)

    Katayoun Khosrowyar (IRN)

    Asako Takakura (JPN)

    Nuengrutai Srathongvian (THA)

Some strange choices. I wouldn't put neither Kumagai or Li Ying out there - in their place Hasegawa and Peng Shimeng. Bit puzzling what is Srathongvian doing out there as well...

Is there any information or data available on how many players in the current Nadeshiko League have professional contracts? I've searched for it even in Japanese but could not find anything...

I wonder if she will stay with Nagano? I watched the England game again from the world cup and she actually played very well in that first half. But she is not really on Takakura's radar now, so I will be curious to see what she does.

I kind of hope she leaves, because I would like to see what Haruhi Suzuki can do as the main striker in a weaker league. I really like the way she plays; she has a very good football brain.

It is always hard to call, but I think Cerezo will struggle next season. I know they were missing Takarada, but they did not seem to have much over both legs. I thought that Nagano were the better team, but scoring goals is what matters.

I would just like to say that defenders really should just kick the ball out for a corner. The goal came from a defender trying to protect the ball to get a goal kick. In such an important match with only twenty minutes to go just kick it out for a corner.

Urawa gave up a goal exactly the same way late in the season against INAC, which pretty much was the catalyst for throwing away the title. I know teams want to keep possession, but at what price?

Probably but we will have 22 new faces instead of 11 next season,,,,(bit more variety)

Somehow think we may have seen the last of Yokoyama in Takakuras NT....Looking at some of the body language between Kumi and Takakura and Kumi and the rest of the squad in WWC 2019 she doesn't exactly come across as Ms Popular
(which is not to say that she isn't a very talented striker)

Ok, now I guess I can recycle this comment I had made after first leg:

The team that was the home to Sameshima and Kumagai, to Kyokawa and Nakada, to Ichise and Michigami, is now sadly relegated to the regional leagues. :(

It was just July 2019 when an article on an American website was writing, under the title of "Tokiwagi - Following in the footsteps of greatness", such things as "Tokiwagi boasts arguably the best high schoolgirls' soccer program in Japan".

Ok, this relegaton was more or less written on the wall since the beginning of this season, with its awful record, but it's anyway very sad to see Tokiwagi go this way.

Also, if you think at Nagano and Yokoyama when, a few years ago, they were the new sensation of Nadeshiko League, it's quite sad to see them end this way too.

Nadeshiko League's website gives a result of 0-0 for this match, that should mean that Bunnys managed to remain in Division 2 by virtue of their 1-2 win in the first leg.

Apparently NGU Nagoya missed a PK in 2nd half, but it wouldn't have been enough for them anyway because of the away-goals rule.

For records: it's the third consecutive season that Bunnys Kyoto SC win a two-legged play-off!
In 2017 they had won the play-off to be promoted to Division 2 from Challenge League (vs Kibi) and in 2018, the same as this year, they won the play-off to remain in Division 2 vs Challenge League's second placed team (back then it was FC Jumonji Ventus).

They're surely quite experienced at winning play-offs and, if I was a team in one of Nadeshiko Leagues, I wouldn't want to face them in one of these matches. :ninja:

I want to take a moment to celebrate once more Cerezo's achievement: for a good part of the season, they were looking second best not only to Ehime, but also to Orca and to Saitama. But they had an absolutely impressive end of the season and they put the icing on the cake by even winning the promotion play-off: a great group of young players for sure.

Also, looks like Honoka Hayashi has a knack for quite "heavy" goals. In 2018 she scored the amazing goal that gave Nadaeshiko Japan the win vs USA at U-20 WWC and now she scores the goals that gives promotion to Cerezo Osaka Sakai Ladies. :)

Here is an article relating to this weekend's players strike in Primera Iberdola. I think the player's demands are quite reasonable, but for some of the clubs not attached to a men's club it could be difficult to stay afloat.

The strike - although I believe in it in principle - came at a bad time because this week I would have been able to watch Yoko play!

    https://www.managingmadrid.com/2019/11/16/20967706/why-are-primera-iberdrola-players-striking

Sustainability is my main concern for the proposed women's league in Japan. I have been to games and crowd number outside of INAC, Urawa and Beleza are not encouraging.

Also, my team Nojima has a small, loyal band of followers, but most of the fans are men with very few young people. It is not ideal.

She is still a very talented player, but playing for Nagano does not really help your chances of impressing. Nagano's midfield this year was poor and both she and Haruhi Suzuki were let down by poor service.

A good player in a mediocre team can only do so much. Another player like that would be Rin Sumida. Seemingly plays like a million dollars for Beleza, but moves to Sendai and does not have the same impact.

True, but it's a fact that probably Liga Femenina has the opposite problem to the one other women's league have that don't have a high number of teams: they have 16 instead in 1st Division and this, as much popular as women's football can be in Spain, is probably hardly sustainable.

In the case of Sumida, I've got the impression that, along with the problem you talk about that it's so much harder to shine in Sendai than it is in Beleza, that particular player was maybe a tad overrated at the time when she was almost a regular starter in NT. Back then, I always thought that she was good, but actually not really "special" (as I would have figured a Japanese NT Midfielder should have been, given the average quality of the players we always had in that department in our history).
