The boys won and moved on but man, this team is incredibly passive at times. They showed they had a second gear in the second half and were much more vertical until they found the game winner so that tells us this team is well drilled tactically. Individually, only the centerbacks and Pizzuto seem to have the tools to potentially be senior NT players and Martino has already highlighted Pizzuto as a player he wants to keep an eye on.
I think your underrating Santiago Muñoz, who I think has shown some good things on the offense. That being said, I think Jesus Gomez is key and hopefully he can pan out because he's in a position where we need him. He looks like the next Montes im.
Mexico has had a great tournament and Chima Ruiz has done a great job. I didn't have faith in him but these last 2 games are the best I've seen from him ever more than anything with the U20 that got into the QF's. Mexico is going to face the best team since the Round of 16 started against the Dutch but so far they got to their goal and this are some great results. It's amazing how some people are diminishing this as if it this shit was easy. CONCACAF had 1 win out of 12 games a couple of days ago and suddenly now Mexico is a semifinalist of an World Cup tournament. It's a big deal.
All the hype behind Alvarez for him to disappear these last two games. Dude looks gassed and uninterested out there
Just seems to me that strikers are who we’re least good at polishing in that transition from youth to first division play, despite Mexico having some interesting prospects over the years. Probably by far the position at which MX clubs are most happy to spend money.
imo, Jesus Gomez #4 CB is the best player on this team and one of the best in this tourney. Kid is really good.
I think this is it for MX. Saw the Netherlands match and they just look like they're exactly the team that can score every time Mexico has one of their dumb lapses or dumb turnovers. Still, win or lose we've managed to make every single team look just ok. If I were a neutral I'd think that phenomenon is as fun to watch as the complete blowouts like this France vs Spain match.
I like Unuvar of this Dutch team, but not sure if he's doing great this tournament. Nonetheless, European champions 4 times in the last 9 editions (2 out of 2 in the last 2 years). Pretty impressive. Not a team to underestimate. Ihattarran is the biggest talent of this generation, but he's too good already for this stage. Last time the Netherlands U17 got this far was in 2005. We all know how that ended.... That was a great team of Mexico.
Just watched the france Spain game and france is winning this tourney. They made Spain look like U13 and Spain would wipe the floor with this Mexico side
Great those two had to kill each other off. Now Mexico or the Netherlands has a chance to get into the final. That was the game plan of the Orange youngsters. Suck in the group and make it barely through to get the most promising track to the Final. Now Mexico has to cooperate in that scheme
Have'nt seen any of the games just the highlights of them along the way. Dont know how the hell they have made it this far, but i give them credit because they are still alive. Holland is going to be hard but not impossible, and as long as they play their heart out, Mexico should be alright, lets go!!!
