Morelos with the goal https://streamja.com/6RoN Morelos with the assist https://streamja.com/JRvJ He’s on fire!!
He just continues to play really well against though teams. We can shit on the Scottish league all we like (which is fair) but that Rangers team actually play pretty well and maximize their talent level, they pass the ball quickly and since they don't have a ton of creativity in midfield they utilize their fullbacks like playmakers and Morelos skill in holding the ball up helps to bring others into play. The guy is the real deal, he's a very good finisher but he also battles and holds up play and combines really well, he's earned the spot behind Duvan. Porto is a good team, and he did really well against them in both games, he's firmly put himself in the shop window and Rangers are going to get a nice fee when he moves.
Smashing 2 on Porto maybe a team will give him a shot. but let’s be real he has been utter shit in Yellow. Hope he finally starts to score in yellow especially since he has an incredible Chance with no Falcao or Duvan. If he fails in these 2 games he needs to go down to the Olympic team (if we qualify)
I don’t disagree. The stars are aligned for Morelos next week. Great club form and no Duvan, no falcao, no Borre. If he doesn’t do something here, future opportunities like this will be tough to find Someone else said maybe a 2 striker formation - I Would love to see it but won’t hold my breath.
get him the ball in a goal scoring scenario and he will score. You guys make it sound like he gets 5+ chances in the box and he just can't score.
Exactly, playing one or two games with a new team without much time playing with the other players and expecting Falcao performances is far fetched. Players take time to gel with teammates and strikers for example take lots of games to see their true ability. One or two chances missed or taken shouldn't define a player, you have to look at long term bodies of work, like Duvan for instance even if he didn't tear it up his first appearances in yellow we could see at club level he turned into a guy who was creating and getting into scoring positions non stop and the goals eventually came.
I think the two main issues with him at the moment is how he fits into the tactics of Queiroz and if he can control his temper. So far he is doing a good job of the latter. The former though is not really on him but on the manager being able to adapt his system to the players.
hope you are right. to CRZD's point - i think he's referring to Morelos' debut game where he missed a sitter late in the game against Venezuela. that version of Morelos and the one who had the disclipinary problems is HOPEFULLY totally different from the version who is on fire right now for Rangers. If Morelos can do the same things that @villus recently pointed out, he could make a case for CQ to think about a 2-striker formation with Duvan or at least as a 1st guy off the bench for the 20CA and WCQ's these next two games couldn't have come at a better time for Morelos.
Dude would love for him to score so freely in yellow like he does in Scotland and in Europa league but if he fails these 2 games then he should be demoted to the U23 if they get their tickets to the olympics don’t mind him in the roster but when the coach only calls 20 field players we can’t call a striker who can’t put it in the back of the net in yellow
He is not eligible for the Olympics. Unless you mean as an overage player. And I do not think his hypothetical new club would allow that.
Tactically the best fits to play as a 9 in the 4-3-3 system we are using is Duvan then Morelos then Roger. They all hold up the ball well and they all press from the front and they are all mobile to move into space when needed. Duvan is the best passer and creator and then I think its Morelos then Roger. Duvan is clearly the best fit but I think after that Morelos being a better finisher and more natural 9 is next up. Muriel can also play there but he's not a perfect fit. Muriel and Roger seem to be likely wide forward options so they'll be involved always, but I doubt we'll see a two striker formation with Duvan and Morelos, tactically it hurts us in a lot of other areas and it takes away from both of them holding up and playing others in because it takes the spaces they like to work in away a little. Keep the 4-3-3 and use one of Duvan or Morelos with wide forwards, that gives us more ability to press all over the field and creates much more space for the team and more passing lanes which Quintero and James are experts at picking out.
The first time Morelos was used (starting) by Queiroz he played next to Duvan up top with Diaz roaming the left wing and Villa manning the right in a weird 4-4-2 type of formation with 4 strikers. I can see something like that happening again next year some time.
Meh, we dont need to analyse to much........he is a bomber...if we want that he scores and get out all his potential, he needs proper service.......prefribly not shots from difficult angles or rebounds.........the same apply for duvan, falcao, borre..........
I'd be surprised if we see something like that with James and Quintero healthy. In games where we are going to attack a ton and don't have one of those two I could see us using that but that formation with 2 traditional wide players and two CF's signals a lack of creativity on the ball and more of a direct approach, I just don't see that making sense when we have our most talented midfielders in the squad and its not a formation that CQ has employed very often in the past. I think playing Morelos and Duvan together is unnecessary when we have so many other wide forwards who can operate wide then come inside giving Duvan or Morelos space as well as running into the space they provide when they pull out center backs.
first thing's first - let's see how Morelos does these next two games. and let's also hope to see JFQ back in the NT rotation soon. if morelos, or another striker for that matter, can prove to be an effective striker, it doesn't hurt for CQ to test out a 2-striker formation if the 4-3-3 is not optimal....
James is fantastic but I still wonder if he is a guaranteed starter with all his injuries and Zidane soap opera situations. These two matches will clear things up a bit. I love JuanFer but does Queiroz? I hope he gives him a chance assuming he is in good form come March but as I said before it would be one of those difficult things where Quinterito would know nothing about the tactics and a few days to pick up the system. Would CQ risk calling up a player for crucial matches he has never had in camp before???
I think if JFQ shows up in the CL final and marks any difference in play, it'll be tough not to call him up. It doesnt take much to see that despite not being the fastest, strongest or most defensive focused AMF he shows up in big games (2 World Cups, CL finals, League play, etc). What would not surprise me to see is if James is still 'inactive' for club as he is today and JFQ is still playing at a high level, James may be the one that stays home during the 1st round of qualifiers.
James is a guaranteed starter if healthy, I'm pretty confident about that, Quintero is a bit different not sure how they'll be used when both healthy I'd guess one or the other and Quintero is the sub since having two of those guys doesn't fit his philosophy. We should use them both in some games and I'd love to see it but won't hold my breath.
I hope you are right but a lot can change between now and March and the manager may be too stubborn to try new creative players. (Or any creative players for that matter.) I am trying to cling to the fact JuanFer was in his plans last March until the injury so hopefully he truly does give him a shot.
I am going to channel my inner Crzd and say the same thing he said about Jackson.. It all means nothing to me until he does it in Yellow for Colombia. Seriously, he is playing with so much confidence right now. Hope it carries over into Miami Gardens and New Jersey.
