Why would Koeman leave out our best player?

I prefer a 4-3-3 with only Weghorst up front and Luuk on the bench, they are both finishers and they need someone who provides assists. Something like this:

    ----------------------------------Cillessen--------------------------------

    Dumfries-------------deLigt----------------vDijk------------------Blind

    ----------deRoon-------------Frenkie--------------Wijnaldum---------

    Stengs-----------------------Weghorst--------------------------Depay

Yeah! it was supposed that de Ligt and Depay were injured but they were named in the squad, so i think they already recovered!

Well in that case obviously my lineup would change. But I havent heard confirmation they are fully fit for N.I. yet though

Depay is still injured AFAIK. Not sure if he'll be ready for N.I.

Yah I figured he must be fit if they named him to the squad. Hopefully he is as he just turns it up a gear for Oranje.

I know it won't happen but Stengs and Boadu would be interesting to see start. They have some insane chemistry

I think Koeman took a gamble and included Depay and deLigt in case they might recover in time by next week. If they havent he will probably call up replacement(s) or just go with what he has

  15. He faked one to have at least one day without a handsball:p

He shouldve faked a broken hand then. Play with a a cast on, and if he makes another handball he can say no ref it hit my cast, not my hand

De Vrij is maybe playing the best football of his career so that wouldn't be an issue.

Replacing Depay is harder. Weghorst is doing good but a different type.

Shame that Dost doesn't want to play. He played well in de destruction vs Bayern with a nice one touch through ball. He has evolved his skills with a football compared to his eredivisie days.

DeLigt starts today for Juve, so it looks like he'll be fully fit for N. Ireland

Wish it would have been Depay with the speedy recovery between the two.
I really like De Ligt, I think he is a beast and an absolute weapon. That being said I think his slight injury would have been a good excuse to give De Vrij a try. In the long run I obviously want De Ligt to be there, but at this exact moment I think De Vrij deserves a chance. We have no idea how he would line up with Van Dijk, maybe they are beastly together. I'm not 100% convinced on the Van Dijk + De Ligt combo yet.... with the quality they have we are allowing way too many goals.
Wouldn't mind seeing a Van Dijk + De Vrij lineup for 1-2 games just to get an idea of it... but I think dropping De Ligt maybe feels too harsh so this slight injury could have been a blessing in disguise.

Yeah, I mean if we're bringing along Luuk de Jong as a pitchhitter, arugably Dost would be even better. But he would have to accept being on the bench and only coming in in that scenario, because otherwise no way do I want him starting over our other options.
