I read that Memphis suffered an injury in the CL tie yesterday, and may miss the Oranje next two qualifier matches this month. o_O Bergwijn has been out too.

Malen should replace Depay. No worries

It's a fairly big worry if Depay is out. I think the Belarus game showed how important he is. He is a superstar and in my opinion our most important player. If he is out hopefully it gives Stengs a shot

Malen has been MIA for past couple weeks... he is not included in the PSV squad today for EL tie. Maybe he’ll be back in time for Oranje qualifiers, but fair question on his fitness and sharpness.

Plus Malen is still hurt and missing the Europa game tomorrow. At this pace I don't think he should be on the roster announced Friday

Weghorst has been playing well in Germany. there is always the reliable Lukinho to start up front.

Maybe try a 4-4-2 with Weghorst and Luuk up front??

This is shaping up good for Stengs... looks like he will make the cut with all these absences.

Koeman will stick with the “known” - so guessing that Justin Kluivert will be promoted. I’d personally like to see Boadu getting the surprised call-up in recognition of how he (and AZ in general) have been killing lately. Dilrosun could be an option too.

Boadu with two goals today for AZ. Should have had six though. I love him as a prospect and he gets so many chances due to his speed and iq but he is still very inconsistent in front of goal. If he can find more consistency he could be deadly

Didn't watch the match as I messed up the game time! Looks like Boadu had an assist too.

So Boadu has 6 goals in last 4 matches in all competitions... the kid is on fire! :thumbsup:Wonder if Koeman is paying attention and calling him up with all the injuries impacted the regulars (Malen, Bergwijn, and Depay).

I agree with Boadu being inconsistent. I think he's still learning being the main target... he's probably surprised himself, too, how fast he's trusted to lead the line, especially after being out all season :p

What I am impressed about Boadu is that he's physically very average. Not tall, or muscular, and probably too thin. But he knows how to use his body and control it incredibly well, especially in the crowded area. It would be interesting, over the next weeks/months, as his body continues to grow and as he gains strength and muscle - he could be even dangerous.

Boadu misses a lot, but he is so young still. I’ll take him any day instead of Luuk. Also from Malen to Boadu they both miss so if Malen can go then Boadu too.

I'd say Boadu misses more right now but I think Boadu has a higher ceiling. And I say that as a big Malen fan

He's naturally physically strong, it's more about body control and natural upper body strength then pure muscles. With an elite speed he has, he can become top 'athletic' striker if he goes to England and develop physically further. And I wouldn't sell his technique skills short as well, he has amazing assists ratio playing alongside CS and OI, he has 10 assists in 21 matches this season, that's great number for a striker, Stengs has 10 assists this year as well, and he's well-known magician. Obviously, their assists are quite different, but it still shows how efficient Boadu can be as a part of an attack.

In comparison of Malen and Boadu, I'd say that while Malen is more versatile player (he can play as a 2nd striker or even winger), but Boadu has more natural potential as typical 9, he can basically become complete striker.

What's even more impressive is that he lost almost whole season last year after this terrible ankle injury (he was injured after five Eredivisie matches and then returned on last three games, that's 7 months of break), and still in age of 18 he's so good.

Calvin Stengs has Mino Raiola as his agent, so it's quite easy to predict that he'll go to nice club after this season if he stays healthy, I wish Boadu stays one-two years longer in Eredivisie, transfer to Ajax from perspective of his development would be ideal if they finally sell two of quartet of Promes-Neres-Ziyech-Tadic, or to PSV, if Malen goes somewhere else. I don't think AZ will be able to be as competitive as they're this year, even with this rapid improvement of their youth academy it's still unsustainable to have five young players with international potential (Stengs, Boadu, Koopmeiners, Boadu, Idrissi) at the same time.

I don’t watch AZ on a regular basis, however, from what I’ve seen, Boadu often outmuscles a defender, or as you guys put it, “knows how to use his body well” in order to get to an otherwise difficult pass. Look at his first goal yesterday. The times I have seen him it seems he has a knack for it.

I like Malen, but like already mentioned, I think Boadu has a higher ceiling as a 9. I’d say they’re pretty much on the same level now. If Boadu can sort out his finishing... watch out. He should have scored at least 4 yesterday. To his credit, he’s such an intelligent footballer already and always getting himself into scoring positions.

Lastly, Koopmeiners has been impressing me more and more. Surely he’s a better option than say Strootman. I have also been impressed with Wijndal of late.

So much talent... It’s been a while. It’s a nice problem to have. Koeman better not mess this up.

Yeah I guess we all think why Strootman still. Koopmeiners is a nice talent and Strootman doesn’t bring nothing at the moment. Hell he never plays. Boadu two years younger than Malen....

I'm surprised that Krul has not received a call. He's better than Zoet for sure.

Weird not seeing Ihattaren selected for Oranje or Jong Oranje. It says it was a mutual decision. Kind of strange

Not necessarily weird. He's still very young and has been forced to bear a much bigger burden at PSV because of the injuries to Malen and Bergwijn. His day will be coming quite soon.

Exactly my thoughts... I think Malen and Boadu are in same level now, especially since both are just learning the trait to be the main Striker (explaining the inconsistencies, lacks of power, etc.) I will give him Boadu a slight advantage due to him being 2 years younger.

Both Malen and Boadu coming to surface and starting to blossom to the point that they are getting selected for the NT have been a pleasant surprise to me. I didn't really count them to be real options for Oranje, at least this early. Obviously Boadu was injured. But even Malen, I was pretty indifference. I thought he was decent last season, had some nice moments for PSV- but nothing screaming. I was actually (still) waiting/hoping for Joshua Zirkzee to explode.... which he has come close, but not yet. From my extremely limited view (I am no pundit :p), I thought, of all the young strikers, Zirkzee is the most unique, who has a nice mix of technique, speed, physique (tall) and power. Hope his time will come, soon!!
