TUDNxtra games not available for UCL on Verizon

Last season, I was able to see any UCL (and Europa League) match without subscribing to B/R. Univision provided all the games via streaming so that one could watch games that were not on TNT or the Univision TV stations (UDN, UniMas, Galavision) as long as one had UDN on their cable package.

Yesterday, I logged into TUDN.com to watch the 1 pm game that was also carried by Galavision, but is much clearrer streamed since Verizon only carries Galavision in SD. I then clicked on the Chelsea 3 pm match and a box popped up telling me that I should get TUDN which will give me TUDNxtra for no extra cost. Well, I did have TURN and so I contacted Univiosn to find out why I was getting shut out(the matches on their TV channels could be streamed without problem) and when they got back to me, they sai that Verizon and Univision had not reached an agreement, and so any game not on TV would not be available.

Many of Verizon's recent moves point to cost-cutting, so this is not entirely a surprise, but is nonetheless disappointing.
For those with other cable/internet carries, are they able to get the TUDNxtra matches (ie, those games not avaialble via the Univision TV stations and are solely available by their streams)

If I understand your situation correctly....

I'm guessing the TV provider would have to come to an agreement to carry TUDNxtra content...like when some providers were lucky enough to get ESPN3, but others weren't. I remember some people PM'ing me their email address so I could log them in to my provider. At that point, they could do a "remote access" situation on their own computers.

There's probably a few true cord-cutters who still do that...but that whole "remote access" was ages ago.

Anyway, I'd imagine that TUDNxtra is similar. Once your TV and/or ISP agrees to carry it, you're good.

My cable subscription includes the Univision channels (including TUDN), but I'm also blocked from the TUDNxtra games on the web site.

Different story on the TUDN Android app, where I can access the TUDNxtra games--albeit with a non-removable (?) superimposed scrore bar that covers a significant part of the picture (over 25%) at the top of the screen... and is about a minute ahead of the video feed, making it the worst possible spoiler.

I posted in the TNT/Univision CL thread about that, but will ask here again: has anyone watching TUDNxtra games on the TUDN app been able to remove that score bar? Is so, how? Thanks!

I haven't tried this, but as a separate downside to Verizon it is no longer a TV provider you can log into Fox Sports Go for to watch games online from TV channels you get.

You have to use the search to select the provider now.

Before I posted, I tried that, and I just got looped back to where I came from. I just checked, and Verizon is back to having a button to click on. The first time I logged in, it was unable to see that I get Fox channels on TV. It worked the second time. Not working the first time has been going on for a long time. Sometimes I've had to use Safari instead of Chrome to log in.

Verizon is back to not being a choice on Fox Sports Go, and clicking to see other providers has the same list as before clicking there.

Bizarrely, you have to search for FIOS and type it in. Not sure why it's not in their top level list. I was able to authenticate in to Fox Sports Go as recently as last night (World Series).

I've been watching Fox Sports Go all week on my iPad and logging in with my Fios credentials. Haven't had any issues.

Now it works for me, and it remembered my Fios log in, which it didn't use to do. It may be something that sometimes works and sometimes doesn't.

The TUDN website and app do not seem to work with DirecTV as the provider to get the XTRA games. Does anyone know which providers work to get the TUDN XTRA games?

From the other thread, it looks like only Dish and Fubo.

When the Univision channels finally came back to Dish, part of the negotiations were that TUDNxtra was NOT going to be accessible to those with Sling. Talk about a crap move by all involved.

I am not against streaming. As a matter of fact, I love streaming. But here is a perfect example of how the new technology - and more specifically, the companies offering streaming - are alienating their customers: they separate the TV service with the streaming service to a point of confusion. This is done to maximize profits. OK, I get it. But it's also creating a lot of pissed off customers. Wouldn't it be easier if Dish, for example, marketed Sling as just a way to get Dish without an outdoor satellite dish? ESPN is another great example of cluster********ing their offerings between terrestrial channels, ESPN+ & espn3. Now we have Disney+ in the mix - who own ESPN - with their own service and you just know the 2 will merge one day into something nobody is going to be able to define.

It's a new technology and it's delivery and marketing are still being tweaked. That's all good and understandable but all of the players involved have forgotten a very basic approach to business - KISS: Keep It Simple, Stupid.

Looks like Cox, Google Fiber and Altice/Cablevision also have this

I wasn't able to get the TUDN XTRA games in the last round of the Europa League. I'm a DIRECTV subscriber and a Mac user.

Today, I wasn't able to get TUDN XTRA to work in Safari. But, I am watching Manchester United on TUDN XTRA in Firefox and in Chrome.

I think that is because the Man U game is on UniMas, so it is not a TUDN XTRA game.

You may be right. But, I was able to watch the game on Firefox and on Chrome via TUDN XTRA. I wasn't able to watch on Safari.

I have had issues with cookies and caches on Safari with TUDN XTRA, as well as NBCSports.com/live and NBC Sports Gold. Deleting cookies and caches in Managing Website Data in Safari preference sometimes does the trick. Sometimes, it doesn't.

I was just glad that I was able to watch.

I do wonder, since you said it was on Unimas, why I was able to watch on TUDN XTRA.

Probably because you get UniMas with DirecTV.
