https://img.fifa.com/image/upload/p5hxsta9rhrdzjdntzo5.pdf says tickets for the second Semifinal are triple the price of the doubleheader with the First Semifinal and Fifth Place Game. Using a currency converter, 25 QAR-50 QAR-100 QAR is $6.87-$13.74-$27.47 in US Dollars. The Final Price of 100 QAR-200 QAR-400 QAR is $27.47-$54.95-$109.89 in US Dollars.

Ha ha - that's hilarious. The reason is probably that a) the teams playing it's Liverpool - they'll probably be the biggest hit, and it could be the host team al Sadd playing against them, b) It's on National Day - it's a public holiday so everyone will be out and about, the 17th is the last day of schools and stuff, c) It'll be the official opening of the Education City Stadium. There'll probably be some sort of ceremony and cutting of the ribbon, etc. Combine the three things together: Liverpool, Al Sadd, National Day, opening of new World Cup stadium and it's all going to be quite an event.... Still kind of funny that they're charging different prices for the same round.. one of those only in Middle East sort of things...

I bought a couple of tickets today - category A for the final, and category 2 for the quarter-final doubleheader on the 14th. Who knows how this one could go... it might be Esperence first followed by Al Sadd 2nd in the tiny 15,000 seater Al Sadd Stadium... probably a fun atmosphere, but this one could be a complete nightmare from an organization standpoint if the Tunisians and locals come out in full force.... I think I'll just uber it that night.... will be out of town for the semifinal most likely but looking forward to the other matches certainly...

Pretty sure the Real Madrid semi-finals in the UAE the last two years also cost more than the "Libertadores" one. So nothing new there.

Visa presale ends on Oct 31. Sale to the general public will commence on Nov 14.

Speaking of Al Sadd, they are now confirmed as the host team. They beat Saudi's Al Hilal 4-2 away but still fell short 6:5 on aggregate in the ACL semis. The Eastern finalist will be determined tomorrow.

It's looking like it might be a repeat of 2017 Al Hilal vs Urawa Red Diamonds final...

Something I need to get off my plate here...

River Plate reach the Copa Libertadores final... thus there'll be no Qatar Airways sponsored Boca Juniors at the CWC... thankfully for them there'll be no Al Ain in their way to the final this time...

It's confirmed after Urawa also managed a 1:0 away win (3:0 on aggregate).

AFC Final: Al Hilal (Saudi Arabia) - Urawa Red Diamonds (Japan)

The winner will equalize Pohang Steelers' record of three titles. Al Hilal are certainly desperate for the title. They have been in the final six times (more than any other club in Asia) but only managed to win two. Most recently in 2000.

They will have to do better than this to finally wrestle a title to West Asia:

Flamengo destroyed Gremio in the second leg:

So the final in Santiago (Chile) is:

Flamengo (Brazil) - River Plate (Argentina)

We are one step closer to a Liverpool-Flamengo rematch of the 1981 Intercontinental Cup final...

I wonder if the final will still be played in Santiago, with the recent turmoil in Chile.

Reports out of Peruvian sports daily Depor are that Santiago is Option 1, 2 and 3...

...and if the turmoil really doesn't get settled in time, then Option 4 is Asunción.

Flamengo vs Gremio... interesting, this was the fixture I saw in Rio back in 2011 lol, back wen Ronaldinho was with Flemengo... the atmosphere wasn't like that though.... guess I'll be able to get out the ol' Flamengo jersey should they win the final...

So the key dates to go are:

[Nov 9] Al Hilal - Urawa Reds
[Nov 23] Flamengo - River Plate
[Nov 24] Urawa Reds - Al Hilal

Anybody know the decision date for CAS? :D

This year is also a second chance to play in the CWC for Flamengo's Éverton Ribeiro. Ribeiro lost the 2015 AFC Champions League final with Al Ahli (UAE) to Guangzhou Evergrande.

Conmebol adamant that Copa Libertadores final will remain in Chile despite civil unrest:
    http://www.insideworldfootball.com/...final-will-remain-chile-despite-civil-unrest/

I wonder how many Flamengo fans would make the trip to Doha. That's one fan-base who has been deprived of international titles for a long time.

I was planning to add to my count of four CWC's attended but the whole blockade business has ultimately discouraged me.

I checked the last times English clubs were in the CWC. In 2012, the League Cup Fifth Round had two games on 11 December, one game on 12 December, and Chelsea was allowed to play one week later on 19 December after CWC games on 13 and 16 December. In 2008, Manchester United played their League Cup Fifth Round game on 3 December, and their CWC games on 18 and 21 December.

Having a league cup goes along with the significance of being in the Premier League or Football League (levels 2 through 4). Clubs in levels 3 and 4 have the FA Cup, League Cup, and EFL Trophy. The EFL Trophy has the 48 clubs in levels 3 and 4 and 16 academy clubs from Premier League and League Championship clubs. Clubs in level 5 and lower have the FA Cup and at least one other cup only for clubs from levels 5 and lower. Of course lower level clubs don't play in international competitions (with rare exceptions like Wigan Athletic being relegated out of the Premier League and shocking Manchester City in the FA Cup Final) and don't advance as far in cups with top level clubs. I'm not saying I feel like the EFL Cup is necessary, but based on what I've read, English fans may think of relegation out of the Football League from level 4 to level 5 as being worse than relegation from level 2 to 3 or 3 to 4. The FA Cup has over 700 clubs (including preliminary and qualifying rounds), and the EFL Cup is a reward for being one of the 92 Premier League or Football League clubs.

Edit: Wikipedia says "Due to Liverpool's participation in the 2019 FIFA Club World Cup, an alternative date is being looked into for their match." After Manchester United won at Chelsea in the Fourth Round, there's a one-in-three chance of a two leg Semifinal Manchester derby if both clubs beat level 3 or 4 opponents in the Fifth Round. Liverpool will go to Aston Villa if they play. Leicester City is third in the Premier League, and if Aston Villa reaches the Semifinals they would be big underdogs against either Manchester club or Leicester. If both Manchester clubs, Liverpool, and Leicester advance, it would make very strong Semifinals. Leicester City is at Everton in the Fifth Round, so the Semifinals could have a Manchester derby and a Merseyside derby.

You'd imagine Liverpool don't want to do anything to jeopardize their chances at the EPL title this year. England having 2 domestic cups makes the calendar really tough to shuffle around.
