Loan is over. Looks like he's the shortrunner to be named Keeper of the Year. His Danish club is top of the league. The no.1 has only conceded 5 goals after 13 matches.
Never forget that FCM (unlike FC København, Brøndby and AGF Aarhus ) is a club based in the very small city of Herning (population only around 49,000), so even though they are at the very top of the table, they are not so much about a big following and big sponsorships, but all about being the top Moneyball FC of Europe, developing talent and selling players, if they are able to make a big profit .. and to expand this part of their business, they always have loads of players out on loan in hope that they will do well, so that that are going to be able to make yet another big sale and profit. In yesterdays news, their Director of Sport Svend Graversen said that they are doing all they can to extend the contract of 1st keeper Jesper Hansen. As for Hamid, then Graversen said that : "- It is gratifying that we have a goalkeeper over there who is performing this well. Then we will see if he is to return home to Midtjylland and take up the fight, or whether there is an opportunity to get him sold... I do get the feeling that he is highly popular [abroad]" So in other words, it's going to be all about how much he is now worth on the transfer market ... but if you ask me, then they are not going to let him go for less than €2 million.
Would you see them willing to give him another loan to another club in Denmark or abroad or even sell him to another mid-tier league? I'd definitely hope he can return and fight for that top spot.
No .. there will be no more loan deals for Hamid, considering how well he has done in MLS this season.. he is either going to be sold or return to FCM.
He is among the top-3 able to become goalkeeper of the year in MLS .. which makes him a big sales object .. Denmark is all for free health care, free higher education and high wages but very low corporate taxes, because a healthy work force and highly educated young people earning good money on average is going to be highly profitable for the whole country in the long run... so Denmark is not really a "socialist" country .. actually much less than the USA, where you need to support big business by handing out food stamps to their very low wage employees and all this kind of government support for the poor and poorly educated... To FCM Hamid is all about his recent performance and transfer value ... It's all about making an investment to make profit if possible, or they will make good use of him themselves ...
Keeper of the year is a misterious award in MLS, which never given to the best keepers. Actually best keepers aren't even finalists usually. Pure name recognition award.
Not in top 3. Not in top 5 probably. Pretty much had his typical "disaster in an important game" performance vs Toronto.
The stats used indicate he was among the top 3 in goals against average, percentage of saves, cleansheets, total saves. Maybe he wasn't the outright BEST but stats prove he is duly in the right to contend for it.
Wasn't that more of the defense's fault than his? I'm not saying he's world class but he wouldn't be still starting if he was as bad as you claim.
Hamid was 5th in GA-xGA. Johnson was 23rd and Mannone 36th though, so yeah, name recognition has a LOT to do with those finalists.
Disaster? Poor on 1st goal, could have done better but not 'poor' on 3rd, for me. Not at fault on others in my eyes.
I guess this brings up to whats the defining way to rate a keeper. By cleansheets or saves or goals against average.
He is OK. Average to above average MLS keeper. No business to be nominated for Goalkeeper of the year. Probably gonna win it. Turner and Clarke who were much better aren't even nominated.
What was the score after 90 mins? Poor on the first, left near corner open on the second, pretty poor on the third. Fourth and fifth are irrelevant.
didnt both play in too few games to have a clear shot at it? plue Clark has made plenty of gaffes. All keepers suffer weak moments every now and then.
Are there any games numbers requirements? Turner has done more for his team in the games he played than the nominants in the whole season. Frey played every minute, why isn't he there? And sorry for the threadjacking.
Hardy matter at all from a FCM point of view .. they are mainly interested in the market value, that will go up when you become 'keeper of the year', no matter what league we are talking about, because then more clubs then will be interested in buying ... So it will now be much more difficult for MLS to be able to keep Hamid.
Because Stefan Frei was extremely average this season. Turner and Clark didn't play enough to be considered for a season-long award. Hamid winning GK of the Year wouldn't be undeserved, but that's different from saying that he's the best goalkeeper in the league.
People will hardly ever agree on who are the best keepers in any given league... I mean, a keeper highly depend on a good defense and will more often seem to be doing great playing for a top team, surrounded by good team-mates ... It's the team that makes FCM's Jesper Hansen look great, hardly letting in any goals, and not the other way around,... a keeper like Kasper Schmeichel on the other hand, is world class, but is playing for a very average looking club team. Still he won a Championship and is a key reason why the Danish NT now is undefeated in a record 32 games in a row.
