Time to pay my batallion dues.

 

Now we will have a true presence in San Jose when we play the quakes. I'll be with the Batallion.

Already trying to push the Quakes as Sac’s “rival”. Hate to break it to them, the Galaxy always have been and always will be the Quakes rival. Sac should try LAFC...

 

I am fully prepared to hate San Jose.

And it's not like there's a limited supply of hate that needs to be rationed. Throw LAG and LAFC in there too. I already hated LAG ...

 

Sorry, Sac has to give us a reason to hate you first. There’s no natural enmity between the Bay Area and Sac like there is Urban NorCal and LA to even start to base a rivalry on. And a few largely ignored Open Cup games aren’t the basis for a rivalry.

Simple relative proximity doesn’t make for rivals. You think MLS would have learned that with the HondoSuoerflopico

 

I don't think you need a rational reason to hate something.

It's funny. I grew up in the north bay and never related to San Jose in the slightest. Back then Silicon Valley wasn't a cultural force in the region, and so, to me, San Jose just didn't have any relevance. I still instinctually think this way about San Jose. So, although I joke about being ready to hate San Jose, my actual attitude is actually more like indifference.

Also, I kind of hate all the teams MLS admitted while passing over us. Especially Miami.

 

2022 is a long way off....a lot could happen.....#nevernodoom

I mean hating Sac for me is doubly hard. My favorite basketball team plays down the street from the Republic’s new stadium site. My sister lived up there for a number of years and I always liked mid town when I visited. Liked visiting Raley Field when they were an A’s affiliate.

And like you growing up Sac was just the place the governor lived. Visited in 4th grade on a field trip to the capital and governor’s mansion and didn’t go back for almost 15 years (when sister moved and after I became a Kings fan in college). Drove around it on 80 a bunch of times on the way to Tahoe *shrug*. Indifference is worst case. Hate... nope.

Edit: He certainly deserves a tip of the cap for getting Republic started on the right foot. Professional organization from day one.

 

I see MLS feels the need to fiddle with our crest.

 

Hard to have animosity toward SJ after having been a STH for 7 or 8 years.

 

Hopefully he was mentioned. Honestly that is one thing that’s got me excited about San Diego USL is that he’s involved. Hopefully he can replicate his success in Sac.

Or it just means MLS doesn't yet have all the necessary IP rights to the crest.
