FWIW, Pynadath playing at a much higher level with Ajax at this stage than Dest was when he joined the US for the U17 World Cup.

he looks dangerous 1v1 but he doesn’t seem to me to move that intelligently without the ball. still concerned about his speed

He's displaying all the strengths of a super sub, creating a lot of danger which could result in a goal, which would be very useful to a team who has been stagnant previously.

But he's showing almost all the weaknesses when it comes to being a viable starter. He doesn't have a good sense of how to use his own and teammate's off ball movement. You saw teammates running to make the overlap and he'd just ignore them. That's more the issue than any lack of physicality or speed for a wing. That claim is really over-played, imo.

That u-17 team team does lack wing creativity, and he hasn't looked out of place at levels which are pretty high for kids his age. So I would like to see him at the World Cup, even though I still expect it not to happen. Must have made a bad first impression w/ Wicky and he hasn't burst through the door since, i.e.: starring for Ajax u-19 or playing w/ Ajax 2 regularly and being productive; to overcome it.

Those who don't threaten to play for other NTs go to the back of the line.

Assuming the defender on the first play was from Europe, I expected more from him.

Teehee, the downside of appearing in a meaningless friendly for the "1st team" while most are away on international duty, is that here come the demands from a segment of the base he gets a senior team call-up internationally as well. On Twitter I even saw a few when he got promoted to Ajax u-19's.

How bout we start with naming him to the u-17 World Cup squad.

Not named to the U-17 US squad. Too bad, as I would have liked to watch him there.

Pynadath came on in the 78th minute. Didn't sound like he was very involved overall during his minutes. They seemed to be futzing around with it near the back and on the opposite side of him. Were trailing 3-1 when he entered. Game ended 3-2. Don't know if there was any involvement in the goal but didn't have the assist nor score it.

I think he is the guy who headed the ball forward.

Jong Ajax won 4-0. Pynadath was the first sub, in the 61st minute, coming on after it was 2-0. Wasn't noted by Soccerway or on Twitter as being directly involved in either goal, which both happened shortly after he came on.

I didn't catch it until the last 10-12 minutes. He had some cheeky interplay, some which came off, and some which did not. And he beat opponents off the dribble on two occasions, to create a dangerous chance. One was his own shot outside the box that dipped just over the bar. Another was a step over to get to the end line, and then he delivered either a hard low cross nobody could get to or an ill-advised bad angle shot. His dribbling/moves is still playing at this level. Defensive pressure game he tries and is quick enough to bother, but needs help to win because it's kind of out of control and he can be nudged off the ball at his current physicality.

It's a double-edged sword that he's at this level. On one hand they're valuing u-19's and he wasn't regularly starting there. On the other, in his circumstantial chances he's managed to still show something as a super sub in the Eerste, so he's being retained for the time being. I think he actually has a really good +/- to this point.

^^Several of the Ajax U-19 players are in Brazil for the U-17 World Cup so this is not the most robust team that Heitinga has available.

But Pynadath just played 30 minutes with the Jong squad, so he wasn't going to start this game regardless.

I guess Gregg and Earnie were there to observe and recruit Dest, so meanwhile they decided to stop by and check out Pynadath for the u-19's. Hopefully he impressed in his limited minutes.
