So you guys are telling me the best midfielder AND player of 2018 is worse than Valverde because all of a sudden he is too old ? Come on guys. Modric is still world class and by far the best midfielder we have.

Right at this moment I agree with this, his minutes just need to be managed properly

Luka desperately needs his minutes micromanaged right now. Once he gets into a playing schedule befitting of his age he has a chance at reclaiming the title of world's best.

Btw he does himself and his body no favors by still playing for Croatia.

Looks like he’s a serious doubt for the Classico.

He won't give up on Croatia as long he is called and feels he can go deep in a tournament.
He is still the best player in the NT.
A Niko Kovac was like 37-38 when Croatia had one of the top 5 teams in euro08.
Modric might still be here for world cup 2022 qualifiers.

But he got to be managed and kept fresh for the big games i agree with you.

In imaginary world, I discovered that there is a slim... very slim chance that Messi, Ronaldo and Vieri playing for Australia in the 2006 World Cup Finals. I stretched very far in my imagination. But if I wanted to go further, I could add Modric to the team. He is Mark Viduka's cousin.... I do not know how distant they were, Modric was a refugee in 1991, but I do not know enough about the political situation to imagine Modric moving to Australia to join the Vidukas. I did not put Modric on this team.

It would be epic if I could tie the past three Ballon d'or winners on the same national team.

Many people from the Balkans have immigrated during that era and some of them play for the countries they migrated to. As Albanians we have like 5-6 of our guys playing for Switzerland, so it wouldn't be far fetched for Modric to play for another country, especially if he lived there.

Valverde played only 260 mins so far. Had one great game and all of a sudden he's the Goat. Talk about overreacting and overhyping. Isco, Asensio, Jese.

Modric did not live there. I only knew that he is a cousin of Mark Viduka.

Modric never left Croatia as a kid. I believe his family was displaced at some point because I remember him saying they lived at an abandoned hotel during the war.

How many minutes has Modric played this season?

No one said Valverde was the GOAT, talk about overreacting. People are simply saying that at this point in time Valverde can be more Consistent and handle the workload better. It's always hard when your favourite players start slowing down but it's a fact that Modric can't play every game as well as he used to and needs his minutes managed. You say Valverde has only had one great game but how many great games has Modric had this season.

Btw in my opinion for big games Casemiro, Valverde and Modric would be the best option.

Valverde had more than one great game.

Talk about an agenda. Hating on the kid just because your favorite is past it.

Lmao no. Ronaldo(was) and Ramos are my favorites. Modric and James after.
Modric is past it? Duh, he's 34. Both him and Ronaldo are past it.

I would love for Valverde to become as good as Modric but atm he isn't even as good as a 34 yo Modric who is still our best middlefielder.

The kid is getting overhyped just like those players(Isco, Asensio, Jese) I mentioned were.

What is overhyped is your assessment of Modric's performance.

Attacking Valverde just because you're a fan of Modric is silly. I'm a fan of Modric as well, but I'm more a fan of Madrid and desire we succeed.

When did I attack Valverde? Saying that somebody is overhyped isn't an attack Lmao, some of you are literally saying that he's better than Pogba who's valued at 130+M.

Ok i wasn't gonna get into the Valverde vs Modric discussion because you are right that we shouldn't discard a club legend like Lukita after a handful of games.

But yeah Valverde is better than Pogba for me. Pogba is worth a zillion billion euros just because he is Pogbq not because of what he does on the field. Overrated as player if I've ever seen one

Is Pogba overrated and overvauled? For sure. Can he still be sold for 120 M? Yes. Would he perhaps shine in for example City or Real Madrid?Probably.
He was crucial in Juve going to a UCL final, Valverde didn't even start in knockouts yet?

We all also jumped to hype Kovacic like this and now he's on the bench in Chelsea.

Morata was also crucial for them and amongst the top scorers for them in the CL but its not like anybody is on his knees regretting the Chelsea deal.

Juventus have compensated losing Pogba much better than Pogba did progress after leaving Juventus.

The entire "Pogba would shine for a different team" logic is based on speculation, especially when it's not like he's brilliant and standing out at ManUtd, he's regularly leading in mediocrity.

There is no incentive for us at the moment to go for Pogba.

The only way we should consider is if Valverde and Odegaard stall then Ericksen fails.

With Valverde and Odegaard's emergence it would be a bit foolish to spend €150M+ on a midfielder.

It shows that he gave 200% for Croatia in the 2018 WC and that he's now like a semi-retired player :D.

Exactly Modric never left Croatia during the war. He was hiding in the basement of a hotel in zadar praying with other people there that he lived.
