Germany won 2-1. German goals scored by Netz and Gunther.....again. and England once again scored a last min goal as Will Fish scored in 90+2.
Am I right in saying we have a bye to the elite round? So next month will probably be more rotation and experimenting I would presume or are we likey to see the likes of Bellingham, Elliot, Barry, Delap etc. Will be interesting to see the strongest Squad selected for the Elite round?
They’ll want to start narrowing it down at some point. Elliott was in this squad, probably just withdrawn because of his upcoming suspension.
In hindisght that sounds better than my suggestion - was more the issue that it is released as a statement. I found out as had an alert on phone for FA Spokesperson on Twitter and couldn't believe what I was reading. Being a Liverpool player too it just becomes unnecessarily big news for what is a minor offence
Think they will want to look at Lewis Richardson who seems to have pulled out the last 2 squads ? Nile John maybe back from injury too. Can't see many changes in the defence. Midfield, attackers and CFs is where it gets complicated.
Can't see Bellingham staying at this level if he continues to show quality in the Championship. He'll be in the 21s before long.
Cynical, but i'm sure a key part of their thinking is getting past the opening round without losing any of the dual nationals. An U17 commitment elsewhere is a major indication of where they'll stay. Forget Euros performance last summer, the biggest negative to the last campaign was whatever happened that lead to Joe Hodge transferring to Ireland.
When we played France at the Euros they had Agoume in midfield who had played in Ligue 2, would be nice to have our own equivalent but the likelihood is that Birmingham won't release him if the season is still ongoing.
I think that is fair but I mean Egan-Riley, Dembele, Musiala and Barry will all definitely make our squad as key players. I think the only one tight for places is Jadan Raymond but I think he should make the squad anyway too but it gets tricky. 20 or 23 selected ?
Lewis Richardson played + scored for Burnley's U23s on Monday. No reason to think he wasn't injured for England, but at least it's not a serious one.
The Squad Goalkeepers: Coniah Boyce Clarke (Reading), Tobi Oluwayemi (Celtic), Adam Richardson (Sunderland) Defenders: Luke Badley-Morgan (Chelsea), Levi Colwill (Chelsea), CJ Egan-Riley (Manchester City), William Fish (Manchester United), Zane Monlouis (Arsenal), James Norris (Liverpool), Daniel Oyegoke (Arsenal) Midfielders: James Balagizi (Liverpool), Nohan Kenneh (Leeds United), Jamal Musiala (Bayern Munich), Charlie Patino (Arsenal), Aaron Ramsey (Aston Villa), Jadan Raymond (Crystal Palace), Alex Roberston (Manchester City) Forwards: Louie Barry (Barcelona), Karamoko Dembele (Celtic), Amadou Diallo (West Ham United), Lewis Dobbin (Everton), Harvey Elliott (Liverpool), Lewis Richardson (Burnley)
I'm not sure if Bellingham will feature again at this level tbh. If Robertson had been healthy over the past year, Australia would've probably pushed hard to get him in their U17 WC squad. Will be an U20 target for them until he's ineligible now.
So his parents are Australian and Peruvian, it seems he was born in Scotland, and he lived in Australia between 5 and 12. Does he qualify for us purely through his education since he was 12?
Usually i'd presume that's it, but he's got such a complicated backstory that he might also have English family. Dad seems like he's a proper Aussie but who knows why he was in Scotland to start with and it's not a massive leap for his mum to be part English or for him to have English grandparents. No idea really. The education qualification thing is one thing we'll probably never get clarification on for where individuals stand. Like presumably Musah fulfilled the time before leaving for Valencia but we won't know till U19 qualification rolls around. Same with Ronaldo Vieira, he never did play an official game for us, so I have no idea if he's qualified officially or if that plays into his lack of U21 call-ups. Armstrong Oko-Flex another one. Maybe it's just a coincidence that he moved to Celtic and never got called up again but he might have just left himself only eligible for Ireland in the end. Don't think the FA are doing anything wrong, but I wonder how clear cut these things are for them or if they're just having to cope with hypotheticals constantly.
I know the attack is absolutely loaded but I'm disappointed Harvey Vale hasn't gotten a look back in yet. I suppose he's competing with Elliott for a left-footed forward spot.
Looks like he just signed for Dundee when he was already playing in the UK. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Robertson_(footballer) The name does suggest a deeper Scottish link, but apparently Alex's paternal grandfather also played for Australia so it might be some way back.
