Like with Grant Wahl, it would have been nice if they would have had the guts to hold US Soccer accountable when Cordeiro was elected.

I just don’t have a great deal of respect for these guys when the chance to really make a difference was in early 2018 and they chose to stay silent to keep their access.

At this point we have to root for losses. A few more in a row and even the corrupt USSF won't be able to avoid a firing.

Definitely axe Gagg. But don't expect it to work miracles. First, there's got to be a high quality coach out there who actually wants the job. And as we've seen, Bradley and especially Arena aren't going to magically make this team succeed given its state of affairs and the current limited talent pool. Coaches get too much blame when things go bad, too much credit when they succeed. I never thought Gagg was a good hire and would love to see him go. It would be an improvement. But the concerns here are much deeper than just the head coach.

Well, unfortunately, the match was about what I anticipated. Gregg needs to go. I was going to make the drive down I-4 next month to see them in Orlando, but, no way. I'm not wasting my time and money.

So, you are clearly saying, it's *not* the players. Agree. It's the coach.

The know-nothings on this Board need to back off. The US Soccer leadership team, spearheaded by the Berhalter brothers, will get this turned around. We’re basically just a couple of inches away. Don’t underestimate Canada - it’s one of the largest countries in the world. I thought we did well to keep it close.
The USSF has given us such joy over the past 4-5 years I just would hate to shake anything up and risk upsetting the trajectory we are on.
Keep up the good work USSF!

It would be good to fire Berhalter and bring in someone else. He's just not up to the job in the way another inevitably uninspired hire might very well be. Peter Vermes doesn't really deserve the job and would be symptomatic of the same process problems, but it wouldn't look like this on the field.

But ultimately, this program and the sport in this country is going absolutely nowhere with the way the operation is structured. We're running a three-legged race against Olympic sprinters.

I’ve been on this board from Bradley to JK to Arena 2.0 to now Berhalter and this is the most united I’ve seen with respect to firing the coach. That has to say something. Previous coaches had their defenders but I’m not seeing any. You know its bad when even the cream puff main stream soccer media is calling you out.

Stop buying tickets for games and watching on TV. That is the only thing USSF listens to.

Hey, folks, Gregg's 9-5-2 with a plus 17 goal differential. Let's just give him some time. We're really close.

There someone just defended him. I didn't mean it, but I gotta believe that's what 5he fed would tell us.

tactically it cant get any worse and at least tab has no attachments to the mid 20s guys who will never be good enough and great familiarity with the younger players

That is the scary part... that they hired him despite his lack of success as a manager. The fact that his brother was a major part of the hiring process tells you everything you need to know.... They are NOT doing what is best for the USMNT and they are NOT going to fire him. Fans and players alike need to boycott until they get a real HC. When a few players come out flat it is on them... when the entire team does and the subs being brought in make no sense whatsoever then it is primarily on the coach. We are literally screwed.

Sign me up right friggin now. I would put my faith in Ramos purely based on his track record with the youth program. His players fight and are pretty creative.

I never saw that U20 team play flat. It was an attractive brand of football and the players were consistently hustling and generally in the correct spaces. It seems like that U20 squad would have had a real shot at beating the USMNT we saw last night.

You know when everyone was all up in arms to fire Bradley way back (post WC10) I argued (convincing no one) that before we fired the coach there had to be a better alternative available. Logic was simple, and no one ever convinced me otherwise: If a coach sucks and is a 3 out of 10, but all available replacements are 2 or worse, then the change will make things worse not better.

In this case, though, I'm so down on Gagg that I think sacking him ASAP and getting an interim in there til we figure out someone better would be the right move. Part of it is that I just don't think it can get much worse than Gagg. He's like a .5 on a scale of 1-10. The other part is that it would send a message to the team and fans along the lines of "We get that this sucks. We're sorry. We'll do better."

Of course, then USSF would have to actually do better, and I don't have a lot of faith in that. But when the coaching situation is this terrible you gotta cut bait.
