MLS MVP Almiron's impact (or lack thereof) for a mid-table EPL team shows that there's a wide gap between the middle of the major leagues and MLS. Also, maybe Yedlin isn't such a shitty player as they've seemed to play poorly in his absence.
You are of course welcome to your opinion (and this is the thread for it!) but the man comes back from a very serious injury and play quite well to help NUFC beat ManU. I'd note that MLS MVP Almiron continues to struggle in the minds of NUFC fans. https://nothingbutnewcastle.com/2019/10/blogs/newcastle-fans-slam-almiron-v-man-united/
From where I’m sitting he completed nearly 80% of his passes, had 3 dispossession, 2 aerials won, got a 7.2 WS rating, and helped hold MANU’s offense to 0 goals. Sorry your narrative doesn’t fit, better luck next time Oh and as @DHC1 pointed out, this is all after a major injury
I actually watched the match and it was a meh performance in a match featuring two poor teams and a bunch of meh performances. Holding an injury ravaged United goalless is hardly anything to brag about these days. And citing to whoscored ratings...will gullible posters on this site ever learn???
I thought Yedlin looked adequate. Only watched the first half, though. The boredom of that match was just too much.
I watched it as well and Yedlin looked like an above average but not elite EPL player contending against a team with a E735 market value and went toe-to-toe with James and Fred and held his own. What's frustrating is that people can't differentiate between major and minor league teams. If these are two "poor teams", then MLS/B2/Championship are shit because each of these two teams would run circles around any team in those minor leagues. It's not even close.
I watched the match. I cited actual statistics, and a match rating, as my argument. Your argument is “I watched and thought meh” when will posters on this site learn their biased eyes can fool them? I cited WS as one piece of evidence among others, you conveniently didn’t mention the others. You can call MANU “meh” but they are better than anything the USMNT has played recently. And the consensus among most that watched, was that he performed well. You saying “meh” doesn’t negate any of that.
A guy who thinks Yedlin looks like an above average EPL player probably isn't best positioned to criticize others about their views on the differences between the MLS/B2/Championship...
It’s hilarious honestly, “holding united goalless is nothing to brag about” when was the last time we faced a team that is as good as united put out? How many of our players face that competition in their leagues on a regular basis? Bizarre.
Nothing convenient about it. The rest of your "evidence", such as it was, just wasn't worth a response.
Reading is good. I said that there's a difference between the major and minors and that MLS/B2/Championship are roughly equivalent. But go on hating on Yedlin - it feels like Excellency and Weston.
Yeah, what I’m getting here is that you have no actual reason to think Yedlin had a bad game. You have nothing to show, nothing to prove it with besides “I watched and meh” well if that’s case I feel even more confident than before that he had a good match.
The point stands, if you think Yedlin looks like an above average PL footballer, you're in no position to criticize anyone else on this site for having a stupid opinion or not understanding what they're talking about.
Looking adequate against MU and James, Fred and Rashford is pretty f***ing good. Comparatively, Cannon (whom I like and am hoping transfers this window so he can, you know compete against better players) went up against Nemeth, Salloi and Hernandez this weekend. How can people not acknowledge that there's just a bit of difference there. But I guess that Man U is actually a "poor team".
I said he had a meh game, not a bad one. There's a difference. And to be clear, I have a very solid basis for that opinion, my observations from watching the match.
Okay, fair enough, you are certainly in the right place for such an opinion, since seemingly most people and soccer publications disagree with you
If you think Yedlin had a meh game you are in no position to criticize anyone else on this site for having a stupid opinion or not understanding what they’re talking about. I can do that too. Also fun fact @DHC1 actually said he looked like an above average EPL player IN THAT GAME. hope that helps
They do??? The only rave reviews I've seen have come from rabid NUFC fans who are overreacting to a win and USMNT fanboys.
They beat Man U, of course journos who didn't (or barely) watched the game are going to throw out a bunch of 7 and 8 ratings. I even saw a 9 somewhere for Longstaff, who admittedly had a nice goal, but was quite pedestrian for the rest of the match.
