Chambers showed a lot of composure in front of goal in scoring the tying goal. That finish was skillful.

Yeah, maybe. I suspect over the next month or so we'll get to see exactly what Raul and Edu think of Freddie (and Emery for that matter).

Freddie is a great communicator and already has good relationships with some of the young players given his role as manager of one of the youth teams. On the other hand, he hasn't managed at the senior level yet and there's no reason to think he has any special tactical acumen at high-level club football. Do we really need that? If not, how long do we want to go without it?

Obviously club management doesn't think about these things the way I do, because the club should have fired Wenger ten years ago and if that had happened who knows where we'd be now. That said, for me it's hard to see a way back for Emery. His limitations look pretty much hard wired for me, just like I'm not expecting Xhaka to show up with some new reservoir of pace and composure with the ball under pressure.

The timing might be bad for Freddie. If it were March, by all means fire Emery, put in Freddie and make a permanent appointment in the summer. Now, it's less clear. There's too much of the season left for Freddie unless the suits really know they believe in him. And the other names being thrown around would probably be expecting a permanent appointment and might not accept being a caretaker.

Yeah like at Fulham last year. Maybe that loan was a turning point for him. I wouldn't bank on it but we'd all be thrilled if it was.

Amazing how Douzy made that spin and run yet again from the left channel in the build up to deliver the pass - he did that about 3x in the second half

We had so much more aggression in midfield once LT came on

I see a huge future for Douzy / LT 6+8 double pivot approach.

Both can get forward, but each can cover for the other.

The Grealish run shows the huge issues at 6 / double 6

Douzy has gone wide to support his fullback, then drops in to cover his FB who is left high and dry after the bad first touch. I believe this is the correct play, otherwise Grealish will play the winger in behind.

Xhaka realises much too late that Grealish is going to roll through his zone. He never gets back to cover - managing to finally get on his shoulder but I guess can't foul with having a yellow already. Fully Five arsenal players start collapsing on to Grealish but it's too late

I really don't think we can continue with Xhaka at 6 - he doesn't understand where he is supposed to be

Xhaka is showing his elite ability, and Auba is showing his average shooting! :p

The win does paper over cracks in the team, but I’ll take it.

I am willing to give Emery until Christmas. Hopefully, our injured defenders can stop the defensive comedy show.

On SkySportsNews they highlighted how our game winning goal should not have stood.

The new rule about not being allowed to have offense of men within 1m of the wall was not enforced or reviewed for some reason.

This is another example of how quite a few points that we've earned this season have come from us riding our luck.

That, along with other factors this season, is ominous.

Watford's first goal shouldn't have stood either. That's sports really.

I'm really interested in your joke-writing process because I want to know how to get on your level. I've started a rudimentary charting of the process but let me know if I missed any steps like running into a wall where there's a fake tunnel painted on, or having a whole honking anvil dropped on your head because you missed the "anvil ahead" sign, or chewing on a stick of ACME dynamite because it was painted to look like a cigar:

    1. Make (very excellent) joke that suggests the match is corroborative of everything you've been saying for a while now.
    2. Someone else responds to joke with less than the full adulation it deserves.
    3. Use BigSoccer's search function for probably a couple hours (due to it being a 15 year-old forum with archaic backend) and search for: "Xhaka" "good" "player" in order to prove your...I think it's to prove the point that people are currently saying Xhaka is good? Or that anybody has ever said that Xhaka is good and they are now being owned? Unsure. Anyways, the point being, you used the search function and it probably ground the whole website to a halt this morning.
    4. Tab back to your work as boss walks by.
    5. Begin building the ultimate list of wrong people
    6. Bold the bits of comments that say something like "Xhaka good" and hopefully nobody will notice the bits in every single comment before and after that say like "at passing to two players, that's his only job, he's not good at the other things" or "good at Bundesliga but not good at PL."
    7. Present with a shrug and the insouciance of a Val Kilmer or Wesley Snipes type, to prove how not mad you are. Very cool.

So yeah, you're definitely not mad at all! Very good joke worthy of spending hours of time searching through BigSoccer for comments to support it lmao

Dude, give it a rest. I can’t help that you inserted yourself into my comment just to be proven wrong. Smh

I already knew what people have said, which is why I made the joke in the first place. You are the one making silly comments that were easy to disprove. Searching a couple key words in an engine search is not hard work. For most people, it takes about ten minutes not a couple of hours.

I'm just grateful I didn't make this list. Either that, or Wayne didn't search the archives long enough.
