lunatica's the winner this week, with 8 points (out of a possible 15, which is pretty good), followed by a bunch with 7. There's been no change at the top for the season, except that the cyborg had a poor week.
Clinching the exact CHI-WAS score saved my week that could have been quite unimpressive otherwise. Unlike the Courage, I didn't win the shield yet, but by now I am counting the weeks remaining before the end of the regular season already: how many to go?
My take about the mid-week predictions: HOU 3 WAS 1 SEA 1 UTA 1 (unchanged from the original prediction: I still think the 4th play-off spot won't actually be decided here)
I'm moving up baby! Managed to temporarily surpass the bot despite riding its coat tails for the weekend matches. Now I have to roll the dice and see if I can predict some exact scores to get closer to the leaders.
Although you indeed rode the robot's coat-tails, it's not the robot that you supassed, but the cyborg! I know it's complicated, but we use to say that cpthomas is the robot (i.e. the fully statistics-based predictor; although @SiberianThunderT claims that it's actually a cyborg too, because its human controller has anyway quite some decisions to take), while BSbraintrust is the cyborg (i.e. the machine who makes the average human prediction). You're still three points behind the robot (and it makes sense, because you of course made the same points as it, this week, by copying its predition) but you're now two points ahead of the cyborg.
Week 23 (midweek) Dash 1-2 Spirit. I've lost faith in Houston. They should be better than they are. Reign 2-1 Royals. After the many, many missed opportunities against Sky Blue, surely the Reign are overdue to get goals.
The Reign have been overdue for goals all season. They should have about 10 more goals this year than they actually do have. Everyone jokes about the Courage's terrible finishing (which is pretty bad), but no one has been worse this year than the Reign. Houston 2, Washington 1 Reign 1, Utah 1
Wow, the 0-0 finally came and I've lost two points to the robot from the mid-week games! Congratulations to @lunatica, who should currently lead this week with 5 points. My predictions for the rest of the week (I feel the robot at my heels -_-"): WAS 0 NC 1 CHI 2 UTA 1 SEA 1 POR 0 NJ 1 ORL 0
To lunatica, and to Tapas&Futbol and McSkillz, who also have 5. McSkillz and Tapas&Futbol are only 4 and 6 points, respectively, behind the lead! We're getting into the final stretch. Will blissett stay in front for the win? Will another human catch up? Or will the dreaded robot ....?
As I said above, I am very worried... And, despite her rant from some days ago, it looks like catching up with me wasn't as "impossible" as @McSkillz was depicting it. we're going to see if she can manage to close this 4 points gap or not.
I wanted to compare my current performance with the robot's one, but... I don't see it being posted??? Anyway, despite my awful mid-week score, I am currenty leading the week-end prediction with 4 points from the first two games (CHI-UTA 2-1 was one of those perfectly nailed matches that are basically the ones that are giving me the edge so far in this season). Could possibly the robot have done better?
Here are the robot's predictions - done Thursday, entered into the computer, but apparently not posted: Spirit 1 v Courage 2 RedStars 2 v Royals 1 Reign 1 v Thorns 2 SkyBlue 2 v Pride 1
With only 1 game this coming week and 4 the next, it's looking like blissett is a lock for 1st place in the regular season predictions contest, with a current 6-point lead. Three big winners for this week: the cyborg BSBraintrust, lunatica, and 59Amerinorsk -- with the cyborg getting its 9 points by getting three scores exactly right (and striking out on the others).
