Hold on. Is the argument that he started a 21 year old in that spot, but once the game had been going (just fine, mind you) for 15 minutes and the 21 year old got hurt, he realized what he really needed was experience, and instead of the 21 year old put on a 31 year old? Despite starting a 21 year old at CB and a 20 year old as a striker at other positions?

    Dude.

more like a 5th choice winger who isn't going to be in the 18 in a week or two.

Lots to be said about the minute leading up to the PK

I've never been a Barkley guy and today didn't change that, but the whole situation was a mess with Jorg and Willian rightfully staking their claim. Barkley as a sub shouldn't be taking the pk, but tbf he has been extremely solid on PKs during summer.

To me the drama was how Willian and Jorg handled it

Jorg was upset and walked away, but then had the character to walk back to Bark and give some encouragement

Willian made a show of it by standing there and adjusting his socks, which did nothing but add more pressure to Bark. I had a feeling he was going to go all power and sure enough...

If Barkley gets put off by William being mildly annoyed, he probably shouldn’t be taking our penalties :)

Lamp was just terrible with player selection and management in this game. Just admit the damn fact, and go get another drink.

Sarri got you Europa Cup and #3 finish in the EPL.

I highly doubt Lamp can get you similar results. Frankly, this shit is way over his head. He's not ready for this. Let him coach the Championship a few more years and learn his ways.

    1. I wasn't particularly opposed to Sarri, but his team wasn't significantly better than Conte's last team. The point total, goal differential, etc. wasn't significantly different. He didn't improve us much, and we clearly got worse this season from a personnel standpoint - we don't have anyone nearly as good as Hazard.
    2. I don't know where we finish with Lampard, but if you've been reading this forum, you'd know I wasn't in favor of his appointment. That said, if he's playing the youth, then I understand the rationale. Our academy has been excellent for a long time, so management has clearly taken the view that we should deploy it and see where it takes us. Lampard is a reasonable manager to do that, though I think people overestimate how much someone needs to be a former Chelsea player to do it. We could have hired anyone with the explicit instruction to play the yoof.
    3. All that said, his decision not to start Pulisic today (or to insert him in place of Mount) was weird, and if his charge is to play the youth, he should play the youth. Pulisic is a part of the club, there should be no difference. It's far too soon to make any kind of judgments, and it's clear he trusts players he's more familiar with. I'm quite hopeful he's not going to be foolish enough to persist with Barkley, for instance, in the face of all the evidence, but we'll see. So far, I've definitely not been a fan of some of his choices, both personnel and tactical. That said, it could certainly be worse.

lamp has struggled in a few matches and the fans got too excited about a match against a team that is going to be sent down.

its going to be a rough season and the fact pulisic will be on the bench watching most of it will be an issue for him.

well I did say pulisic wasnt going to play today on saturday and you said I was a troll....I mean did he play today? is that what trolling is?

go back and look at the chelsa/wolves thread I said he would need a transfer because he is going to find time tough to come by and he was behind willian, pedro, mount, cho at best. Look at the match again..was a wrong? being right is tough and while mount getting hurt helps his chance of playing this weekend...its still a question at best. However, again like I said in that thread he does have shot to get matches in early cup matches...look for him to start next wed against Grimsby in an early cup match.

You think wolves are going to be relegated and that pulisic is not going to start based on two games.
    You’re either a troll or...worse. You choose which :)

That was a garbage result caused by a lack of quality on the pitch as well as muddled, undisciplined thinking on the sidelines.

It's going to be that kind of year, I suppose.

I have said it before and I shall say it gain. Pulisic is at the right club, we are building a sweet team with a great group of young players. I am not sure why Frank hasn't played him recently, there is more to decision making than we are privvy too. I have never been a big fan of Pedro. I have always preferred Willian. When MM went off I expected to see CP. But I trust the decision making of our manager Frank, although I do not always agree with it. I expect CP to get some games and prove what he can do on the pitch, where it counts. A goal against Liverpool (I have seen this in the tea leaves) will be the beginning. There is a LOT of this season to work through and it is too early for crass conclusions.
