Uruguay hasn’t been a take-it-to-you side in forever. Even with Cavani, Suarez, Forlan etc, they’ve molded their side to be a defensively stout counter-attacking team with the intent to achieve respectable results against Brazil and Argentina. And without special talents up top to finish their few chances they’re very, very pedestrian and a lesser side than Mexico if not for El Tri’s severe confidence issues.

In less words, I’m not surprised that the US looks functional without the black holes of Trapp and Zardes

    Uruguay aren't actually trying.

edit: could be the pitch. that's a lot money there. not the pitch. the Uruguay transfer market value.

Dest should play wing. He is a terrible defender

I get that the grass over dirt is "slippery", but WTF is up with the rest of the grass? Fowler and Ozuna aren't swallowed by turf monsters when the go after one hit to the gap as far as I know.

People always say this, but the quality of play in MLS is higher than it has ever been, so it's sort of a silly point to try to make.

Soccer is the largest labor market on the planet, sports speaking.. More teams means more money from the tv deal, which will be needed after the revenue from expansion fees ends.

In short, it's going to be incredibly good for the league. More teams means more chances for players, and with MLS's typical reliance on foreign talent in attacking positions, it means more chances especially for American players in those roles. Now if the league can successfully become a selling league, it won't be long before you see the level of play rise as the standard of American player improves as well as being the intermediate destination for young South American talent before Europe.

Since most of the better players come from outside the US and I believe we pay better than many third world leagues it matters very little that the MLS expands. The quality will not drop. It will just get harder to find good players to interview in English.

I'm glad they finally explained that they are in a suite and that explains the close audio we keep hearing.

    Poor Long.

Shame Ream can’t run that fast.

We should still be able to score.

With the academies starting to mature, MLS is making its own talent pool. Every new MLS team is creating an academy where there wasn't one before.

One thing I’ve noticed in both games with Dest... the second he passes the ball he knows exactly where he needs to be next and where his next pass is going.

    Why is Guzan playing?!

Old man near post, I’d rather bring Howard in...

Roldan gambled on the pressure and got beat, not enough follow-up ball pressure by Yueill allowing Uruguay to run right down our throats (that's a Berhalter shape issue more so), and then Long got worked. Long is not in good form right now. Lost motivation after NYRB didn't transfer him.

Long has been brutal in these friendlies. He's not even playing LCB this time.
