I count 3 fullbacks. Is Ream playing CB?

Uruguay score on a 1 v. 1 against Ream. Maybe two. bank on it. every match. Hope Sargent scores a brace and Dest does as well. later.

not a crew player in sight...my brain cant even process this. the first bradley/trapp-less starting 11 since before sarachan (at least).

Yeah, this is issue 1036 that I have the USSF. Why can't they put out normal lineups that show people roughly in the position they'll be playing?

I'm assuming Ream is at CB, but maybe it's a new double LB look.

Good point. Who's the defensive CM? Yueill?

Defense in the midfield? Surely you jest. Anyway, tough match to miss with Sargent and Jackson and Dest, but the train wreck in the defense, Dest out of position, and a midfield that is basically created to look bad so others can look good...

    well.

If you mean the guy who's supposed to do those diagonal balls, then yes.

This sets the U.S. somewhat better for a possession-based style - Ream in the cb pairing, Guzan in net, Lletget as the 10, Sargent back to goal, etc. But if it's predictable, Uruguay are going to press, and still force the occasional bad turnover. And I worry about the lack of collective mobility in cm between Lletget, Yueill, and Roldan; in terms of maintaining possession to a degree, but especially on defense.

is this going to be a reverse "system", with dest moving central from the left?

Compared to the Mexico game, this is a line up that I can respect from Berhalter.

he constantly effs up the midfield

i am a lletget fan but roldan is not the level and if you were going to play a prospect, really, yueill before pomykal? this is the thing is he's always shoving some mihailovic or roldan or yueill out there ahead of the blue chippers

I don’t get it. Pomykal has been at the top list of Americans in MLS all season as far as ratings go but clearly lesser players in the same league he plays get ushered into the lineup before him.

i actually don't have a huge problem with this. we can decipher it and opposing teams can guess. but i'd actually rather not we just send the other team the lineup and formation by FB.

trying not to make too much of it, but the preference of yueill over pomykal (at this point) is troubling

The majority of prospects for us seems to make their debut as last min subs. Dest is the only one outside of january camps that I remember starting in their debut.

scoreline predictions? I would be pretty shocked if we didn't get pounded.

    4-0 Uruguay.

Might we see a change in goal for the second half?
