JD has had quite a run of good years and still young. I can see why they would hold out for more but saying 25 mil Euros is a bargaining position IMHO. I think Benfica was trying to slide one by but got told bluntly "NO Fscking Way". Great to see him getting some well deserved recognition.
Very poorly. I recommend a remedial course in George Carlin videos!!! The CPL appear to have survived their first season with decent attendance numbers (~5k a game) so that is an exceptional achievement in Canadian soccer. If a CPL team can make it to the finals of the V's Cup it will be a huge boost and here's praying they actually WIN IT ALL!!

Steven Vitoria is a designated starter in Liga NOS for Moreirense and he's been very good so far. I think Herdman will start him
Looks like we won't have to wonder whether Telfer will ever get a call up to the CMNT. Item 3 in this article says he's going with T and T. https://canpl.ca/article/the-breakdown-valours-blowout-forge-in-honduras-and-more-from-week-18
It's for the best...we're too deep up front and more are coming up. Remember when we used to develop defenders but not midfield or forwards? Funny how we went in reverse
For the best for Telfer, maybe, but I'm sad to see him go even if he wasn't likely to crack the lineup. Considering all his development is Canadian I'd rather see him providing depth for us.
6-0 good game against Cuba. Kept a clean sheet and didn't let up when we got ahead. Nope just kept pouring it on. Now that is what I want to see. Got a bit sloppy when up 2-0 but Milan made his one save of the night but yea that was a big one!

What was the attendance? I can't find it but the stands looked at least half empty. 10K for a Saturday night game? It would be a shame if that was it. This is some of the best players we've ever had.

I realize that Cuba is far from a stern test but, looking at the roster, our defense is becoming more solid. Layrea did really well in his debut, especially in playing up as well as back. Miller was solid. Looking at Henry, Cornelius, Straith, Adekugbe, Cordova, and, if we need to, Kaye and Davies, we can actually put together a serviceable back line.
I felt that Miller was uncomfortable at LB...I'm hoping for Adekugbe to play 90 minutes. However, I'm not against Miller getting some time at CB tomorrow Henry is good but I have huge doubts that he can keep his concentration for 90 minutes. He's notorious for making at least one major mistake per games. Against the USMNT, the margin for error is almost non-existent... I would like to see Vitoria for 90 minutes tomorrow as he plays at a higher level and have played 90 in all his games in Portugal. Cornelius is a starter for me. Laryea was very impressive and definitely endangers Brault-Guillard's hold on that spot. I'm hoping to see 90 minutes from Cordova tomorrow to compare with Laryea I'm thinking that once Arfield is back, Osorio might be the odd man at midfield. Kaye is so good and blessing to have on our team. Our midfield is just as good as the US, dare I say better. Up front, Davies, David, Cavallini & Hoillett are the way to go. We've seen that if you press the Americans defense enough, you can force them into making bad mistakes. We need the physicality (Cavallini) to break through, the skills (David & Hoillett) to be key playmakers and the speed (Davies) into forcing their defense into making mistakes. We'll go as far as defense can hold...which isn't a reassuring though. We can count on Piette to help a bit if Eustaquio or Hucthinson are unavailable for that game. Kaye can also play there if needed. Borjan? 2nd to Navas in CONCACAF Coaching? I need a drink
^ I appreciate your comments. Looking at what you've said about our defense, I think you're proving my point by listing the pros and cons of the different players - that being that we do have the makings of a decent back line (even though it is our weakest area). Certainly it's strong enough that we could debate which players we'd prefer to see. As for the US, yes, the margins are very thin. They are the second best team in CONCACAF. That said, I think our biggest obstacle is actually going to be the mental one. After so long without beating the Yanks, our players are going to have to actually believe they can and not keeping wondering in the backs of their minds when things are going to fall apart.
Thanks. That is very low for a Saturday night game. Damn shame as this is the best we've looked since our 2008 gold cup run, maybe longer.
Good news is that we've lost only once at BMO field (2010 against Peru) and we tied the US last time they visited. I'm less worry about that game than getting the job done in the United States. We need to win both games.
Apparently our second game against Cuba will be even easier than originally expected: https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2019...ational-team-players-defect-after-canada-loss I wonder what kind of team Cuba would have if it could keep its players?
