Was that...nah, it couldn't have been...a Becky Sauerbrunn goal? I haven't seen one of those since*...

Pretty nice one at that. Perfectly redirected.

*Edit: I didn't remember the one that she apparently scored on May 28, 2017.

Watching the Royals/Thorns game, it occurs to me that I would rather see an NWSL game than a meaningless NT game against a not-so-good opponent.

Sonnett has the ability to be a very good CB. But dear lord, her decision making can be downright atrocious. She just showed why she's 4th at best on the US depth chart in that position.

Wow did I ever pick the wrong game to watch. Mexico completely dominated the USMNT.

For as much as POR dominated the first half, I was worried that UTA's lead would disappear in the second. I'm glad the second has been much closer. Always nice to see POR shut out. X-D Even if it means my prediction is wrong!

I almost made that mistake. Fortunately [and sadly] I knew the USMNT well enough to turn off the game after the first goal.

Don't worry: as I pointed out on the predictions' thread, no-one of us had made more than 1 point from this game! :x3:

That was a really stupid push by Horan on Rodriguez. She gets the bonehead play of the week award.

They have a reputation for dirty play (a reputation that isn't that unfair), but they're one of the least penalized teams in the league. They have the second fewest yellow cards (tied with Utah at 13) and are 6th in fouls called.

I'm not expecting better refereeing for the Courage game today, since PRO decided it would be a good idea to let Chesky do yet another NC/SkyBlue game. I will never forgive her for ruining the 2017 final.

00'48" 0-1 Mathias crosses from 25m wide right, ball bounces at 14m 6-right. Skroski, facing own goal, flicks ball upward to deny Hamilton lurking behind her. Sheridan runs across to left post but seems to think it's harmlessly wide -- instead it drops unerringly through left 90, into back left low.

05' 0-1 Mathias spins ccw past Dorsey to 19m wide right, shross outswings toward left 90, Sheridan dives rightward and palms it wide left.

06' 0-1 Hoy nods ball down into own stride through arc tangent right, veers leftward and splits Dahlkemper too high and Erceg on her outside, to 10m 1/4 left. Left foot shot on the run to 1/4 left, Labbé double-blocks ball out to 7m 6-left. Hoy adjusts to it, shoots one-touch left foot just over left 90.

12' 0-1 Monaghan chases down ball at box top mid-left, does a stop-and-go past Dahlkemper, to 8m mid-left, cuts back to stop ball. Dahlkemper goes chest-to-chest with her, shoves her 2m off ball, then uses both arms to push/throw/spin her down. Foul, pk.

13' 1-1 Lloyd pk, right instep rising into back right edge 2/3 high, over Labbé's dive.

17' 1-1 Monaghan dribbles to 5m wide left, ground cross just behind Hoy at 8m left post. Hoy steps back to ball, backpass to Dydasco unmarked at 15m 6-right. One-touch left instep shot gets no power, rolls gently to Labbé. Credit Sky Blue for having three players in that attack -- weirdly, it's NC's defense that is looking a bit swamped.

20' 1-1 Lloyd outpaces Hamilton(?) through 30m left post, slaloms right and hops over Dahlkemper's slide-tackle try, wrong-foots Erceg (and she falls down), stumbles her way to box top right post alone. Lloyd shoots right instep hard rising over Labbé's right hand, off crossbar 1/4 right, it bounces out to 11m and Erceg clears.

25' 1-1 Killion(?) longball from own 35m circle right to 30m arc left, ball drops in behind Dahlkemper, into Monaghan's stride. Monaghan outpaces Dahlkemper to 12m 1/4 left, Labbé slides out feet-first, Monagan snipes left instep around her (and hops over her feet), just wide right low. NC's game plan of having Dahlkemper defend way up at circle back is playing into Sky Blue's direct scheme.

46' 1-1 North Carolina subs in (1 of 3) #10 Debinha for #21 Cari Roccaro.

57' 1-2 Hamilton backs down Dorsey to 11m box right, cuts endline and steps over Dorsey's desperation slide-lunge try, alone to 5m 6-right. Backpass to Dunn unmarked  at 11m right post, Dunn fires right instep across mouth past Sheridan's dive, just behind left post low.

69' 1-2 Sky Blue subs in (1 of 3) #9 Nahomi Kawasumi for #7 Jennifer Hoy.
72' 1-2 North Carolina subs in (2 of 3) #14 Jessica McDonald for #23 Kristen Hamilton.

79' 1-2 Yellow card on R.Rodríguez, for a foul on Zerboni.

83' 1-2 Sky Blue subs in (2 of 3) #5 Julie James Doyle for #19 Elizabeth Eddy.
    85' 1-2 North Carolina subs in (3 of 3) #17 Heather O'Reilly for #19 Crystal Dunn.
    87' 1-2 Sky Blue subs in (3 of 3) #29 Amandine Pierre-Louis for #4 Paige Monaghan.

90+4' (of +3') 1-2 R.Rodríguez shoots from arc top mid-left, just over crossbar 1/4 right.

FT 1-2. I think Sky Blue are eliminated now, as their maximum of 16+12 = 28 pts doesn't beat #4 Chicago on 29 pts.

03' 1-0 Balcer presses Pickett at 25m mid-right, Pickett turns centerward and whiffs on a backpass try, can't box out Balcer overtaking her and the ball. Balcer counters through arc tangent right, Zadorsky and Greening both pinch centerward to stop her. Jenkins is unmarked through box top 6-left, way inside Edmonds caught upfield on the turnover. Balcer rolls a diagonal pass into Jenkins' stride at 9m 6-left, Jenkins touches to 6m 4-left, shoots right instep over Harris's left hand, into 2/5 left back low. Greening was overworked by the aggressive counter, had to stop ball but rotated off the goal-scorer behind her.

12' 2-0 Catley faces up Edmonds through 27m wide left -- meanwhile, Jenkins sprints past Boyles(? -- topknot) jogging, back-cuts Edmonds and goes alone down box left. Catley rolls a pass to Jenkins at 10m box left, 1-v-1 on Greening. Jenkins wrong-feets Greening with a drag-and-go, gets to 2m 6-left, finds no backpasses available, shoots right instep rising over Harris's left shoulder, off bottom of crossbar 1/4 right, it bounces down into right side netting.

17' 3-0 Balcer knocks ball behind Zadorsky way out at 30m box right, chases it down and turns to 10m box right. Ground cross skips through 12m 1/3 right, White swings and whiffs, ball deflects through her legs to 12m 1/4 left. Yanez runs on with 1/2 step lead over Boyles(?), shoots one-touch right instep across mouth past Harris's horizontal dive, into back right edge 2/3 high.

23' 3-0 Suddenly, the floodlights go out! And then ... lightning is sighted. Stoppage, teams leave the field.

58' 3-0 Reign FC subs in (1 of 3) #25 Ifeoma Onumonu for #11 Darian Jenkins.

61' 3-0 Long loses footing and ball at circle center, Emslie collects and counters up arc right lane. Barnes stands at arc top 6-right, Emslie veers leftward behind Barnes' stance. Barnes reaches right foot out and misses ball, Emslie plows into Barnes' hip and bounces straight up, lands flat on stomach. Foul, yellow card = 5th on Barnes, she misses Reign FC's next match.

69' 3-0 Orlando subs in (1 of 3) #23 Marisa Viggiano for #17 Dani Weatherholt.
72' 3-0 Reign FC subs in (2 of 3) #15 Megan Rapinoe for #24 Bethany Balcer.
74' 3-0 Orlando subs in (2 of 3) #8 Danica Evans for #25 Joanna Boyles.

77' 3-0 Orlando high-press and catch Reign at box top right. Oyster turns adventurously centerward through own 5m box right, with Camila right up against her back. Evans comes across and takes ball, Oyster tugs her jersey and clips her feet from behind. Foul, pk.

79' 3-1 Debinha pk, right instep into back left low, past Murphy's dive, hard off the back pipe and up into the roof.

82' 3-1 Unintended comedy: Theresa right throw-in near box top, wet ball slips right out of her hands on her wind-up, goes straight up and lands where her feet were.

83' 3-1 Orlando subs in (3 of 3) #20 Abby Elinsky for #15 Rachel Hill.
84' 3-1 Reign FC subs in (3 of 3) #19 Kristen McNabb for #31 Rosie White.

6,668! It's becoming an event
