So the inaugural Concacaf NL is off to a Concacafy start Not for Suriname scoring (congrats to Gleofilo Vlijter for writing himself into trivia lore as the first-ever goalscorer in the CNL proper), but Belize eating a 3-0 forfeit for failing to show up in French Guiana.

Bahamas is supposed to be hosting Bonaire in Nassau on Monday. Apparently Nassau didn't get as much damage as other parts of the country and I haven't found any cancellation or postponement of the match but we'll see what happens.
Now that the competition is underway, I went back to its website, and the regulations are finally up! You might be tempted to think that Concacaf would copy/paste from UEFA, but no: there are actually 3 significant changes. 1) In the group stage, the first tiebreakers are GD, then GF - with head-to-head coming in afterwards. 2) There will be no draw for the Final Four. Rather, the League A group winners will be ranked (points, GD, GF, away goals, Fair Play) and will play 1 vs. 4 and 2 vs. 3. 3) No extra time in the semifinals - ties at 90 go straight to penalties. The Final OTOH can go into overtime.

Congrats to Curaçao - that field was awful, but for both teams - and with Haiti's slight chance at making the Hex pretty much dead now, our next target has to be the must-win on Tuesday and getting out of relegation danger.

Dayum Congrats to them, Suriname now in the driver's seat en route to their first-ever Gold Cup appearance (as the only South American Concacaf side yet to make it). OTOH, Henry Duarte should be preparing his resignation as we speak...

Bermuda did Canada a solid by beating the 2-0! Now we need to beat the US on October 15! Fun Fact! CanMNT have only 1 loss since playing at BMO Field and that was in 2010 against Peru. The USMNT tied us the 1 time they play there...
Jamaica will advance to League A next year, then win the whole thing. Then they will qualify for World Cup 2022 Qatar and win the whole thing too. I cant wait
In other news . that loss at home to Bermuda was devastating for Panama, but how much worse is it for their ranking going into WCQ?
It allows Canada to surpass them in ranking if we win tomorrow against Cuba...according to mathematicians out there
According to the thread with the guy updating the algorithm, Canada is already ahead of Panama. It's unlikely Canada gets into the Top-6 though. Both Honduras and El Salvador would have to shit the bed and Canada would probably have to win the Nations League.
To get in the Hex, Canada must beat the USA twice (both games are worth 18 pts each) and at least reach the finals by avoiding Mexico in the semifinals (doable if we finish 2nd or 3rd among the 4 group winners) Someone with knowledge of the live rankings (including Panama's loss to Bermuda) told me that #CanMNT went back to 8th yesterday with that result Curacao is in 7th, Panama now 9th. Canada has 1317 points (I had them two points worse, was using 15 multiplier instead of 25)— Duane Rollins (@24thminute) September 9, 2019 1170895741553979392 is not a valid tweet id
