This is an exciting player that USMNT fans should just ignore. He's already cap-tied to Canada, so no future in the red, white and blue for him.

    Jonathan David
    Date of birth
    January 14, 2000 (age 18)
Place of birth Brooklyn, New York, U.S

The 18-year-old Canadian striker signed a professional contract with Gent back in January 2018 and made his professional debut a couple of weeks ago against Zulte Waregem in the Jupiler Pro League.

In his debut, David scored a crucial goal in the 90th minute to earn his team a draw. Since then, he has not stopped scoring. In each of Gent’s subsequent three matches, David has featured as an impact substitute and scored four times, including two goals against Waasland-Beveren and a winning goal in Gent’s UEFA Europa League first leg qualifier against Jagiollonia Bialystok.

So far in a total of 66 minutes played in his professional career, he has scored five goals. A great goals per minute ratio to start his career.

Why is he here? There's a couple dozen posts on him in the Canadian MNT thread...

Because he's a Yank (and a Canadian and a Haitian). And he's abroad.

    Its finally happened.

Canada is poaching our best as we're the worse option.

Eh, I guess. At least with Rossi/Subotic there was a chance. And BMJ wasn't captied when his thread started. Welp, I look forward to a bunch of Mexican-American YA threads with cap-tied Mexican players any minute now...

He played in Concacaf Nations League. That's an official competition, and until we hear differently, we have to assume it's cap-tying.

Man! We are not in a position to keep letting strikers escape. However, I probably could have scored 2 goals against the USVI. And I am a LB!

If we’re going to lose a player to someone, it’s better that it’s Canada.

If they get more players like this guy then we have some competition besides Mexico and Costa Rica in the region.

i wouldn't object to losing a few to Panama or T&T to make the region far more competitive.
