I’m not necessarily sure I agree. How exactly is he above the U-20 team?

Sabbi was called up but is injured. Cappis, IMHO, is a snub

This particular camp is nearly 2 years away from the next u-20 WC so not very consequential.

And Araujo has looked like an MLS starting caliber rb when given the opportunity. That's above the standard of anyone on the u20 roster. It's above the standard of many on the u23 version.

Not to mention he's a player w/ high potential who also has a threat of switching allegiances if he isn't receiving opportunities in the interim which he's stated is his criteria. This doesn't move me much normally, but should come into play in a virtual tie.

    here
F*ck the Gals. 1st they're arranging meetings between Araujo and the Mex Fed. Now they're blocking call ups for Araujo.

There is more money in it for MLS to develop Mex NT players than U.S.

Hmm, '97 seems quite old for a player who is starting his RS sophomore year in college, but he is a bit of an International Man of Mystery, so anything is possible.

I'm not sure even his parents have one!

I have spent more time than I care to admit looking, including on English youth cricket pages.

And came up empty. I attribute the inability to find his DOB to Thomas being born in Russia.

    And I'm only partly joking.

I am too, but hopefully he plays lb, because it's his best position imo, there are a dearth of quality alternatives on the roster, but he's listed as a midfielder, where there is a lack of depth.

All the more reason Cappis should have been called upon. He's very similar to Servania, but could have used 2 of them on the field, or one backing up the other.

His versatility makes it easy to carry him at the back of the roster if he shows he has the quality to hack it among this group. He still has a pretty low profile, but is a worthwhile sleeper candidate.

Honestly I think playing centrally he may be best, he connects the defense and the offense so well. I agree he may be the biggest asset as a left back though, I just hope he’s even considered as a cm too.

I also hope at LB and RB we give more looks to other players. I think at full strength we have legit fullbacks but idk if during qualifiers all will be available/fit/healthy. Maybe they look at Dejuan Jones and DJ Taylor who I don’t see as future national teamers but players who can grit out the result against Concacaf teams.

What about Vines? I know Colorado has a game on 9/7 and 9/11.

Vines would be my qualifying starter at LB (assuming it's an MLS based roster).

These comments from Luchi Gonzalez about this callup seem to confirm that Ferreira has gotten his citizenship.

2019 has been a breakout year for Ferreira, who had only made two appearances for the club before the season’s start. FCD head coach Luchi Gonzalez has been impressed with the way Ferreira has handled the responsibility of being a consistent starter for the team, and he’s seen tremendous growth throughout the season.
I think there was one thing he did really well this year — he got his citizenship,” Gonzalez said, jokingly. “Jesus has earned opportunities. He never got to play with the U.S. youth system because of his status, so I know he was really excited to get his citizenship and now take advantage of this opportunity at the international level. Similar to Paxton, it’s just a product of him working for this family and for this jersey. He’s going to prepare for his opportunity with the Olympic group while being with his teammates this weekend.”

Here (cc: @Balerion) is an article saying he was 18 on Oct. 21, 2016.

    https://www.watfordfc.com/teams/under-18s/academy-scholar-signs-stones

If that's correct, I believe he must be a late '97 or a '98. But again, I have no idea why my tracker says '97...

The match is closed to the public, but anyone know if it'll be streamed anywhere? They put the last games on Youtube.

    This would be my lineup:

    ----Ferreira-----Toye----Aaronson---
    -Duncan--Dotson--Servania----Lennon
    --------Glad----Trusty----Herrera-------
    -----------------Freese-------------------

with a broken nose. So he's not 100%.

That's why he's not at the U-23 camp

    So:

Coach Gonzalez says Jesus Ferreira doesn't have his citizenship yet and he can't play against Japan for the US U23s.
    https://www.dallasnews.com/sports/f...observations-september-5th-rise-of-the-kobra/

Now, I don't know for sure if this means "can't play because rules" or "the program doesn't want to play him because reasons" but it does make me think about the Moses Nyeman situation. He did play for the U16s earlier this year, but still nobody thinks he's a citizen. And maybe he's not.

    https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/club-soccer-articles/us-u16-bnt-roster-for-may-tournament_aid46216

Stil, I continue to suspect that it is at least frowned upon, if not against some kind of rules, to put a noncitizen in your national jersey in a game against another country -- or, at least, a non-closed doors scrimmage, or, at least, something. Maybe it matters which team/level it is. But I don't know for sure!

Is the Japan U23 game a real thing, with tickets, etc.?
