This will reportedly be taking place around the same time and maybe place as well as the senior camp. I think it will essentially be a u-23 b-team. The u-23's who are good enough to be senior national teamers will be used there instead. I think it'll be second tier MLS prospects and European reservists/youth teamers/lower level players. Who do you think will be called up? Here's a list of the most viable players off the top of my head: cf: Toye, Ebobisse, Ferreira, Vazquez, Soto a-wing: Lewis, Reyna, Llanez, Saucedo, Lennon, LDLT cm: Cappis, Parks, Yueill, Aaronson, Mihailovic, Servania fb: Dotson, Duncan, Gutman, Araujo cb: Glad, Trusty, EPB, Pines gk: Marcinkowski, Freese, Klinsmann
I might lose my shit if Mihailovic is called to the Sr team in September while Pomykal is called to the U23s. Just fair warning.
GK: Freese, Marcinkowski, Klinsmann DF: Dest, Araujo, Trusty, Richards, McKenzie, Keita, Acosta, Robinson MF: Cappis, Servania, Yueill, Mihailovic, Carleton, Ledezma, Lewis, Ferreira FW: Sargent, Weah, Soto, Wright Senior team: Pulisic, McKennie, Cannon, Glad, Robinson, Ebobisse, Sabbi Injured/Don't Call in: Durkin, Sands, Amon, Taitague, Gloster (needs to settle in at PSV), Palmer-Brown (needs to settle in at Vienna), Carter-Vickers (needs to settle in at Stoke), Pomykal (injury/fatigue) Alternates: Vom Steeg, Herrera, Farfan, Cerrillo, Zelalem, Mendez, Lennon, Saucedo, Vazquez Players younger than '00 are not in consideration, if I'm running the team, except for Araujo. Thats not a player the program can afford to lose to the Mexican program and they snubbed him from the initial U-20 WC roster, so playing him above his age group here might be needed. I made this quickly, so I could've missed a deserving player or two.
I don't think performance applies much at youth level. You call in the best players. Plenty of players I suggested are playing very minimal minutes anywhere. In fact, half or more of the team isn't in good form and playing every week, so its besides the point to begin with. Although, I acknowledge that there's a large-scale campaign against Carleton for reasons that aren't worth discussing, so it's not surprising that people would object to that instead of McKenzie or Klinsmann or Acosta or Sargent, who all barely play each week, if they do at all. There's such an interest from so many who claim this player isn't any good. Fascinating. As to Carleton's performances, I think he's recently had some very good, and some indifferent performances playing for Atlanta's reserves. I also have long said that regarding his performances in this team is stupid because he's a player who needs to play with other talented players around him due to his style of play. His performances in the Atlanta reserve team have always been worse than his performances in the first team or youth national teams.

The full roster won't likely come in any time soon because that's the history and clubs aren't obligated to release players for this. Expect to see names trickling in over the next week. More US callups...I'm hearing Thomas Roberts, Tanner Tessman, and Kevin Bonilla are going to be with U20s.And Brandon Servania, Edwin Cerrillo, and Jesus Ferreira with U23 team.— 3rd Degree (@3rdDegreeNet) August 29, 2019

I guess if both can’t be called in then try next Konrad then Saucedo.

Stunned to see Niko Hamaleinen at this camp. He's actually debuted for the senior Finnish national team, right? Surely he hasn't submitted a one time switch to play for the US U23s. Surely. He does play a position of need, though. He's a left back. Not exactly the deepest position for us.......................
yeah he appeared in a friendly on january 11th of this year against Estonia. idk he barely has any appearances at any of the teams he has been at and is 22...
Niko Hamaleinen also might be cup tied for the 2020 Olympics. He played for the Finnish U-21s in qualifying for this summer's UEFA U-21 Championship which served as Olympic qualifying for UEFA. At least that is the way it works for the U-20 and U-17 World Cup. I guess Richie Ledezma's absence will be the biggest source of concern.
Folks will always be concerned, but all of Ledesma's actions suggest we shouldn't be. And of course, he wasn't on that Mexico U23 roster (or they call it U22) that was just released either. Jonathan Gonzalez was on that one.
All of the chicken little stuff regarding youth player commitment is off-putting. It seems like it happens after every roster release. "So and so doesn't want to be our friend anymore!!!" Goodness, people. Have some cajones.
@bshredder I'm a little surprised that we have no Hobro players at the U23 or US camps. Sabbi and Cappis in particular. Not released or not selected?
I have him as a '97, but I don't remember where I got that info. Here's a list of all U23 callups to this point. Obviously the practical pool for this team is bigger than this -- I would thing anyone down to the current U17 roster, and up to some guys in the MNT pool. are at least on a list somewhere. I marked Zubak (roster status change) and Ferreira as asterisks, more or less. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1zxurBh6g_Z5mIqWXUb6k7_rHxUnDstOKqTyLgnErln4/edit?usp=sharing
Didn't expect them to roll it out at once. Maybe he just decided he wasn't going to wait for releases this time. It's solid, but there are a few I'm miffed about their exclusion, especially Araujo. It may be because of a match date conflict, but a # of other players are on the roster who'd have the same issue. If that was indeed the issue they better still be keeping in contact w/ him to explain the reason for exclusion. Parks and Ebobisse would be the most unjust exclusions from a merit standpoint. But they also have games around that time and maybe are just considered too indispensable. Cappis and Richards also should have been there if made available. Can't complain about Ledezma being left off. Hasn't proven much at the club level and the CAM group is strong.
Per Brian Sciaretta in the U-20 thread, Araujo was called for the U-20 camp but not released by the Galaxy.
OK, but that's below Julian's current pay-grade, and if it was a higher honor we don't know if the release may have occurred.
