Nice. Not a small investment, considering the foreigner minimum wage, for a club near the relegation zone. He should get plenty of playtime.
Better for Japan imo. Hasebe's departure from Japan means that Japan need someone who can step up in this position. He and Misao can vie for this position.
Second start in a row for Nakayama. Jaap Stam, Zwolle’s manager, just used Nakayama twice as a starter after the team secured their place in next season’s top division and no more had to face the mathematical risk of falling down to the relegation zone. Let’s hope that during the off-season Nakayama will get enough time to further adapt with the team and Stam’s tactics, and Nakayama will be a starter next season. My concern here is that his expected call-up to the Copa America will affect his off-season preparation with the team. In overall, I think it was a good first half season in Europe, given he is playing in defensive positions -which are quite critical- especially with his team not sure if they can escape the relegation or not. Playing under a legendary defender like Stam will surely help him grow, while it is confirming that the manager is giving him playing time when possible, unlike Itakura’s situation.
Japanese-Dutch right-back Sai van Wermeskerken officially joined PEC Zwolle in a 2+1 years contract: https://www.peczwolle.nl/nieuws/pec-zwolle-trekt-rechtsback-sai-van-wermeskerken-aan He is 25, former Japan Olympic team fringe player who played previously with them in the 2016 Toulon tournament, and he was playing the past 4 seasons in Dutch second division for both Dordrecht and Cambuur, respectively. He started in all of Cambuur’s matches last season as they narrowly missed on the promotion play-off spots.
Last season he also made it in the team of the league from what I remember. scored a great goal too. Anyway a great example of hard work. Yes, he had to play 4 seasons in the second div. when he came from Kofu but it was worth it. In Toulon he was very rough, now he's a solid player.
Sai van Wermeskerken is starting his first Eredivisie after 4 seasons in the second division, and Zwolle is leading 1-2 now. I hope his perseverance will be rewarded. Meanwhile, Nakayama is still out injured.
I don’t know. It is reported that collided with a teammate during a training session earlier this month, but I couldn’t find anything about the nature of the injury. Sorry mate.
First full match for Sai. First win of the season for Zwolle after starting the season with 3 consecutive defeat and a draw. 1-3 away win is a good result, let’s hope it will be the turning point for Zwolle and Sai will be an integral part of it.
Privacy rules in the Netherlands forbid to give medical information of people. You only can get that info from the person himself.
I'm not an expert, but I think so, as it is info on his medical condition. I think it was last year those rules were under European Laws put in place.
Two assists as his team won 6-2. Iranian striker Reza Goochannejhad came off the bench to score 4 goals, with one of them assisted by Sai. No news about Yuta Nakayama AFAIK.
Where could you watch it live? Traditional satellite TV channels and even digital streaming services (like DAZN) only show the top teams matches in the Dutch league, and I was happy to watch Keito Nakamura’s debut live as he was playing against PSV.
